Deimos didn't trust himself to speak, or think, and he just shook his head. He took some calming breaths before finally looking up at her. She was on top of him. She was really sexy from this angle. He quickly banished that thought before it could fully surface. He shifted a bit, trying to ignore the parts of her touching him. Being so close to his him. It's not you, but everyone else. He told her honestly. He had learned a long time ago being honest with her was best, because sometimes she caught him formulating the lies or the stories, but that didn't stop him from still trying sometimes.
His chest still ached, but not as bad, as if she were healing him by touch. His thoughts were still of his parents, of any "friend" he'd ever had before her, of being told he was uncontrollable, unsave-able. I just don't understand... what made you stay through it all? He asked her, what made you stay where my not even my parents could, by my side? He hoped she hadn't gotten that thought, he hadn't even meant to let it fully form.

Because I lo-- Rosalind stopped thinking abruptly, her eyes growing wide and face turning a deep shade of red at the words about to come forth. She wasn't sure if she was ready to tell him that just yet, even if that was the most direct explanation she had. Sure it'd started out as a silly crush, but it'd very quickly turned into something much more than that. As of now, Rosie could only assume he only saw her as a little sister. If she were to tell him how she really felt, that could possibly make things so much worse. What if he really only tolerated her because she was nice to him? What if this disgusted hi, or drove him away? Knowing for sure was somehow scarier.
Though, it could turn out, as unlikely as it was, that he returned her feelings. If there was a chance he would reject her, then the opposite was true as well. I...
It was now or never, Rosie knew this. There would be no better time to tell him, and if it happened that he didn't feel the same then...well at least she wouldn't be left wondering "what if", right? Rosalind took a breath, covering her face with her hands so he couldn't see the scared look she was sure was on her face. I love you.
The words flowed from her mind a bit more rushed than she'd intended, and the fear of rejection seized her body, making it difficult to breathe, but she lowered her hands slowly all the same, studying his face for any sign of reaction. I...I've been in love with you for years. That's why I'm still here. I can't not be.

Deimos felt like his heart stopped. She really... loved him? How? How many years was "years?" Why? He didn't know how to respond right away, he never thought anyone would be in love with him. She was one of very few people in the entire school that even approached him most days, especially among the students in the years between them. No one forgot what happened, and yet here was someone that came to him right after, when the rumors were still fresh, and she fell in love?
He wanted to be convinced she was crazy. Maybe even crazier than he was. But he also wanted so badly to believe she was telling the truth. He hadn't even bothered letting any crush he had get any stronger than a crush one would have on a celebrity. The first time he ever confessed his feelings to someone, she turned him down. He was only 14, hadn't even done anything bad besides a few harmless pranks, the fae had definitely done worse than him at that point. It gave him a hatred for vampires, because she was so snobby about it, like him even having a crush on her would ruin her reputation. Now suddenly, the one crush he'd been fighting for a good couple years now said she liked him first.
Why? was the only thing he could really bring himself to think. He wanted to say he felt the same, that he was elated that finally someone returned his feelings. But all that could come out was the bitter, jaded question. He felt his face heat up a bit; a some point he should really tell her he felt the same.

Why? That wasn't exactly a rejection, but it wasn't quite an acceptance either. Rosalind hadn't prepared for this response. She ran a hand through her hair, chewing on her lip. The hand that wasn't in her hair rested on his abdomen, her fingers bunching his shirt a bit.
Because...you let me see a side of you not everyone gets to see. She allowed a tiny smile, even though she was still completely terrified of what was gonna happen next. Actually, at first it was because you were totally hot. I was fourteen and a guy four years older was talking to me? I was starstruck. Her voice grew quieter then, not entirely sure why she was confessing this to him now. Rosie supposed she may as well tell everything now that he knew. It wasn't as if it'd make things worse than they could possibly get. But I dunno, somehow it went from being a crush to actually liking to you to being in love. The more I spent time with you the more I realized you're just a huge, soft, brooding werevamp who really isn't a bad person. Despite everything people said about you I could see the real you. And you were a hell of a lot nicer to me than some of my own kind. I feel like I can be myself around you, my real self, and not this silly persona I have around people. You're the only person I feel like that around. As ironic as it sounds, you make me feel safe... She trailed off, not wanting to overwhelm him, although she was sure she already did.
Rosalind kept her eyes on his chest, afraid of seeing what was going on on his face at her words.

I am not soft. Deimos protested. He shifted so he could be the one to bump her forehead this time. "I think you're crazy, but me too." He told her, staying in that position for a moment, hesitating, before placing a soft kiss on her cheek.

Seriously? After everything I said that's the thing you respond to? Rosalind felt her heart skip a beat, and her entire face turned completely red when he leaned up to kiss her cheek. Sure it wasn't exactly the type of kiss she wanted, but she couldn't quite bring herself to care that much. Maybe she was crazy, but she didn't mind if it could stay like this. Him knowing how she felt somehow took a weight off her chest.
She dropped both her hands to his chest, blowing her cheeks out a bit with a pout. 'Me too?' She teased lightly. She knew exactly what he meant, but the selfish person in her wanted to hear the words. I don't think I know what that means, Demi. I may need you to clarify.
A few stray thoughts from some of the other students in the room filtered through her mind, none of them kind words at all, but she forced herself to ignore them, even though a tiny frown found its way on her face. She wouldn't tell Deimos about what they were thinking though, especially since he was already so worried about him tainting her reputation. She moved her hand to his hair, a light smile on her face.

Yes. Deimos replied, a playful smile on his face as he stuck his tongue out at her. He noticed her start to pout a bit, and he began drifting his gaze among the crowd of students. None of them were outright crowding them, but enough eyes quickly looked down when he made eye contact he knew they were staring. He saw them talking, but tried to act unfazed.
Deimos groaned, rolling his eyes at her. His eyes fell on a couple students at a nearby table, seeming transfixed on them. He bared his teeth, which made them quickly look back down on whatever they were working on. I... I love you too. He admitted, his eyes still looking away from her, having drifted from the two students to something else. He felt like he was blushing, but he couldn't tell if it was just his imagination or not, he didn't really feel embarrassed about it anymore, if anything it was more shyness. He really wasn't used to this feeling either. But... you're still liked at school... Are you sure? He asked, not really able to directly ask if she was willing to sacrifice any good reputation she had just to be dating him. Even though the teachers had warmed up to him, and some of his peers that had returned, the story was still passed down in scary stories the older students told the younger ones.

Her heart skipped several beats and her stomach did barrel roll at hearing those words, but she beamed down at him all the same, even if he wasn't currently looking at her. She followed his line of vision to where the students were sitting, sighing lightly. Admittedly she was sure people would be looking at them crazy even if he weren't a werevamp, simply because of the position they were sitting in.
Rosalind rolled her eyes at his question, cupping his cheek in her hand and bring his face to look at her again. I already told you, if they wanna look at me weird for being with you, then I don't want to be there friends. She finally gave into her wants, leaning down to press her mouth to his in a gentle kiss. Besides, I've been wanting to date you for four years already. It's kinda too late to turn back now.

Deimos raised an eyebrow at her skeptically, but reciprocated the kiss all the same. Four years? All four years that you've known me? He asked her after the kiss ended, going back to resting his head against the chair. Geez, kid, even I could admit I was not a good person four years ago. I was in a really bad place. He hoped he wouldn't upset her using the old pet name, considering he used to use it as more of an insult. He used to treat her like an annoying little sibling when they first met. But eventually the word stopped having as much malice to it, it stopped being something to try and put her in her place, sort of thing.

I told you, I had a huge crush on you when I was 14. I thought you were hot. And mysterious. And dangerous-but-not-really. She said, reaching a hand up to touch her lips lightly after the kiss. She wanted another one. She raised her hands above her in a stretch. She ignored the 'kid' comment, chewing on her bottom lip to keep from pouting. You weren't a bad person. Just scared. And alone. Rosalind ran her hands through her hair, smiling down at him. But that's why you have me now. You don't have to be any of those things anymore. Rosie let her hair fall down her back and her hands resting on top of her head.

Deimos once again was surprised, though confusion was almost the stronger emotion. He'd never heard those words before. Never got an affirmation he wasn't a problem. Never had been told someone would be by his side no matter what. No one ever acknowledged he was scared of himself, especially while growing up.
He bit his lip, not able to say anything, looking down towards the ground before pulling her into a hug, holding her tightly. The lump in his throat from earlier had returned, and he felt like if he tried to say anything, think anything, he'd break down. Too many students were watching, he couldn't let himself. He hadn't cried since that day. No matter how much his heart ached, no matter what his parents had told him, no matter what happened, he hadn't cried. Now, it was the closest he'd been in four years and it was because of simple words. Words he never knew he needed.

Rosalind let out a small squeak from the sudden hug but quickly melted into hit, hugging him back. Sometimes she hated being an empath. Especially around Deimos. It was already easier for her to pick up on his emotions, at this point it pretty much automatically happened. But adding in the fact that she still couldn't control it as well as she did her telepathy, and how strongly he was feeling right now was overwhelming, and she squeezed her eyes shut, sucking in a breath to keep from sobbing.
Demi? Is there anywhere we can go to be alone? You're feeling...so strong...it hurts so bad.

Deimos nodded, he had plenty of hiding places within the walls of the academy. He started searching them out from the first year he had gotten there, especially after being teased all the time. He slid her off of him so he could lead her to one of his nearby hiding spots. He hadn't meant to project that. He knew sometimes she didn't mean to use her empathy, but he didn't really want her to know those feelings. But things from his past were connecting in his mind and it was reeling with things he had never previously thought of. He couldn't control the feelings that came with the thoughts. He led her to a classroom that had been under construction for renovations for a rather long time now. The builders had stopped working on it for some reason, so it was typically abandoned but blocked off, so a more moral student wouldn't try to go in.
He brushed dust off a desk and sat on it. Probably not the healthiest hiding place, but it is a place where we can be alone. He told her simply. He tried to make light of his words, but that ache just wasn't going away, and the connections and memories of his past wouldn't stop.

Rosalind hadn't realized she'd been holding in a breath until they left the room, and everything that'd suddenly hit her at once left just as quickly. She let out the breath, her hand going to her head. She lingered near the door once they reached the room, not really focusing on what Deimos had said. Her head was reeling from the onslaught of emotions. It usually wasn't that bad, but everyone in the room had been so negative and her connection to Deimos, for whatever reason, was much stronger than it was with everyone else. His pain mixed with everyone else's negativity was too much for the small fairy.
After she was sure she wasn't going to collapse Rosie rose her eyes to Deimos', offering him a weak smile. She never wanted him to see her like this, and admittedly it was the first time she'd ever experienced anything that hard hitting before, but still. Rosie sighed, slowly walking over to Deimos and wedging her way between his legs, wrapping her around him and resting her head on his chest and wiping away residual tears. Sorry...I can't control my empathy yet and everyone's emotions hit me all at once. I couldn't handle it.

Well, get a grip on it. He told her, still trying to get the mood lighter, but he couldn't get himself to laugh, and it didn't sound quite as joking as he intended it to. He rested his chin on her head after she came close, wrapping his arms loosely around her and closing his eyes.
He opened them as he realized that was encouraging tears, staring blankly at the chalkboard in front of him. And don't apologize. It's not your fault everyone hates me. He added. Her words from before were still reeling in his mind, and every time it would compare it to something he'd been told in the past and it just made his chest ache more but he couldn't stop the thoughts. He wished, for a moment, that he could block her from his mind, just to give her a break. But even if she didn't have literal empath powers, he could tell she was still just in general a very empathetic person. She'd still pick on his pain, no matter how much he'd try to hide it.
