Deimos didn't really get what was happening until she was already over and on top of him. He raised an eyebrow, was she serious right now? Her comment confirmed she must be. As long as you're okay. He told her simply, just kind of accepting his fate. He could think of worse fates. Still, he hoped this wouldn't just become another coping mechanism for her. He could think of worse coping mechanisms, too. He nodded, reconfirming his permission, I'm not going to say no to it, so if you want to. He told her simply.

Rosie simply offered him a smile, kissing him again.
Hours later she laid, curled against Deimos' side. She had an arm across his chest, her head resting on his shoulder. Sleep was still evading her. She'd fallen asleep shortly after they were done, but a nightmare forced her awake roughly an hour later, and she'd been laying awake since, not willing to close her eyes in fear of replaying those images.
The nightmare this time wasn't of her and her brother, but of Deimos. It was a new one Rosalind had started having right after he'd left on his scouting mission. She'd been terrified of something happening to him, of him not coming home, and those fears filtered into her dreams. The dream, though she couldn't remember much of it, was always of him dying in some way. And her being left alone.
Rosalind pressed closer to Deimos, a frown on her lips. She didn't want to lose him, she couldn't. He was the only thing she had left.

Deimos squinted up at his ceiling, he didn't even realized he'd fallen asleep. It made sense, but he supposed he was back to the kind of sleep that just felt like he closed his eyes for a minute or two. He noticed Rosalind fidgeting and glanced down, seeing her curl up against him. He rubbed her back just slightly, not wanting to startle her if she didn't notice him wake up. The last few hours had felt like a dream, and honestly he really wanted them to be, because then that meant the promise wouldn't have been made. He could go to his fridge and grab a drink without breaking anything. He let out a soft sigh, Guess I gotta clean out my fridge now... Maybe I'll give it to the bartender; that's a lot of money there. He thought to himself before reaching out to talk with Rosalind. Rosie, you up? Everything ok? He asked her softly.

Rosalind jumped a bit when Deimos spoke, glancing up at him. She nodded, and then shrugged. I'm tired. I had another nightmare so I didn't sleep. She sighed, looking down and closing her eyes. She felt like she could drown herself with alcohol right now if only to get a few hours of sleep. A yawn escaped her which ended in a sigh. Rosalind lifted herself up to rest on her elbow, rubbing her eyes with the hand that had been on his chest. They were probably red and had bags under them, but that was to be expected.
How was your sleep? I'm glad one of us got some.

Deimos sighed, how often could one person have nightmares? He really wished it was something he could protect her against. But her own mind was something he couldn't really fight. Besides that, he had trouble fighting his own thoughts most of the time, how could he expect himself to be able to fight for someone else. He tangled his fingers in his hair, eyes closed. You need sleep. He told her simply. He moved towards her, pulling her close before wrapping his arms around her protectively. He nuzzled his face into her neck, So get sleep. I'm right here.

Rosalind pouted, looking at Deimos with a short huff. I know I need sleep. I've needed sleep for five days now. But I can't help if it wont come. She wanted to add that's why she'd begun drinking in the first place, but held her tongue, instead closing her eyes and smiling a bit as Deimos hugged her. She enjoyed moment like these, where she could just lay with Deimos. It just sucked that it was because she couldn't sleep due to her mind not leaving her alone.
Rosie sighed, her hand going up to thread in Deimos' hair. I'm glad I have you Demi. She started, yawning softly. One eye peeked open to look at him before she yawned again and snuggled closer to Deimos. I don't know what I would do without you. I'd be lost probably...you're the only family I have. Finally, within seconds of saying that Rosalind fell asleep once again.

Deimos stayed still, not wanting to wake her since she was finally sleeping, but those words rang throughout his mind. You're the only family I have... I'd be lost without you. How is it of the two of them, the one that was more of a troublemaker was the one to rekindle his familial relationships, where as Rosie, who had to be one of the sweetest people he'd ever met, had no one? Fate really was cruel, he supposed. And it wasn't like he was planning to try to repair any """bond""" his biological parents may eventually try to claim they have. Maybe for Felix he could understand it, they kept him for two years. But not him. He felt his anger rising, but quickly forced himself to change the subject, not wanting to wake up Rosalind with a sudden surge of emotion.
It seemed like a big responsibility, being the very important person in her life. He was honestly scared of that responsibility. Before he actually did so, he was convinced he wouldn't live past twenty. Once he hit 21, he had decided he'd die whenever, but he could at least encourage it to come quicker. Now, he'd promised someone he'd try to live as long as possible. The worst part being he meant it. If he had to live for... who knows, another 60 years, he at least wanted to spend all 60 of those years with Rosalind. He bit his lip, his eyebrows knitted together and he fought to not move too much and get his phone out of his pocket simultaneously. He began searching for something. After the scouting trip, he didn't have a lot of money left in his savings, but he had enough for something simple. Something shiny that she could enjoy.
As his eyes scanned the pages, he couldn't help but snarl. Why was silver such a popular choice of metal for the cheaper ones? He wanted to still be able to hold her hand and stuff. Finally, he settled on a relatively plain rose-gold ring. If he was so willing to deal with borderline personality disorder, depression, and chronic pain for 50+ years for her, he may as well propose. He shot a text message to one of the scouts that had been on the team he went out with, asking him for a favor. He ordered it to be picked up in store, and then within the day he'd have it. He settled the purchase and delivery detail before he went to his bank app and shut his eyes tight, barely peeking an eye open to see the damage paying it all upfront did. Guess I'm living on cafeteria food when I run out of my own... He thought to himself with a sigh. At least not all the cafeteria food was borderline inedible, just, at least in his opinion (probably from having eaten it for about 9 years now), most of it was. Still, something like this was worth that kind of sacrifice.

Rosalind groaned lightly, pressing herself tightly against Deimos. She'd finally gotten much needed sleep, a very dreamless sleep. Though she felt like she could have slept for days. It felt like she still needed to sleep for days, but still Rosie was glad for the hours of sleep she did manage to get.
Morning, Demi. She nearly slurred, her voice sleepy. Rosie wasn't sure if he was still awake, she'd yet to open her eyes, wanting to stay in this position for as long as possible. It was comfortable, and she prayed that if she stayed long enough it would lull her back to sleep.
Unfortunately, even after an extra few minutes of laying against her boyfriend, sleep had come and gone. Plus her stomach was growling, and she remembered she'd skipped dinner in hopes of sleeping early. Rosie shifted a bit, making a soft noise and finally blinking her eyes open to look at Deimos. She noticed the phone in his hand but didn't question him on it, instead saying, I'm hungry.

Deimos felt like he was in a daze. He'd focused so much on not moving, not waking up Rosie, that he just kind of rotated between sleeping and playing on his phone. He only knew he'd fall asleep because he had to click to turn on his phone screen again. In that time, he'd bought the ring, looked through Tumblr, Facebook, and Instagram, but a side effect of not having a lot of friends meant his social media wasn't as busy as some other people's. He watched two movies on Netflix, and downloaded a season of a tv show. He looked up the side effects of alcohol withdrawal, which was apparently effecting him as he searched at 3am, one of the side effects being insomnia.
The scout he had asked to get the ring would be there that day, but not for another few hours. He startled slightly as Rosie spoke to him. mm, yeah. I could use some food, and coffee. He agreed. A yawn escaped before he could stop it, and he let himself stretch. His entire body felt like it was throbbing. Guess he'd have to get used to it.

Rosalind rolled onto her stomach as Deimos stretched, taking the time to stretch herself. The stretch caused her back to ache, though, and she winced, curling in on herself a bit to relax the muscles that used to house her wings. Even though it'd be almost five years since they were cut off, her body still hurt once in a while, a reminder that they were no longer there. As if she needed one. After a moment of allowing the pain to subside Rosie sat up, rubbing her eyes and scooting off the bed. Do you have food here still or do we have to eat gross cafeteria food? Rosie questioned as she shuffled to the bathroom. She quickly brushed her teeth and washed her face before going back to the room to the closet. She picked out a simple blue dress and yawned, turning back to face Deimos. I have late classes today. When do you work?

Deimos blinked wearily as he scooted to the edge of the bed. He glanced at his phone, I still have a couple hours, they just want me helping in the dish room today. He told her simply. He ran a hand through his hair, pulling out a fresh shirt and putting it on before going to check his fridge. Unless you want an apple or banana, only, I just have alcohol, milk, and meat in the fridge. He chuckled a bit, giving her a shrug. Guess I should actually... buy real food. At some point soon. It definitely wouldn't be too soon after his purchase today. He ruffled his hair, stretching again, There's a secret little shop-slash-cafeteria for the staff, let's just go there. It has slightly better food and definitely more variation. It still didn't have a lot, but it had more options than a couple for each food group, and then things one can't normally find in the cafeteria, like brand name candy bars (instead of the occasional questionable-ish school-made ones), and a barista bar. He had worked there at 17, putting him in a staff-only area as an original attempt to reign in his troublesome attitude, but the only thing it did was get him hooked on coffee. He quirked his head and raised an eyebrow, well, there was one non-harmful vice. Not like it did anything for him, but some could even argue it was healthy... if he didn't constantly get lattes.

Rosalind shook her head, sighing lightly. Being a vegetarian was hard when she was dating someone who's primary source of food was meat. You need more fruits and veggies in your life. She told him. At his suggestion Rosalind nodded. Cafeteria food wasn't her favorite, and she was more than okay with going to the staff cafe. Am I allowed to go in there? Does that fall under us not being public? Although at this point she was pretty sure the staff never said anything because the two of them being together visibly did more good than harm. If they really cared that much, they probably would have said something when it became evident Rosie had moved in with Deimos. Besides, it wasn't like they did any PDA or anything like that.

A crooked smile formed on Deimos' face, that's what my parents would always say too. He told her honestly. It wasn't that he had anything against fruits and vegetables, he just had very... very clear food group preference. I'll see what I can do about adding more non-meat things to my fridge. He promised her, feigning defeat. Just for you. He put his hands into his pants pockets, giving her a shrug. No idea. Maybe? I really think the staff stopped caring. As long as it's not in front of students or anything, He looked around, a slight chuckle escaping as he pointed to the closet, now also filled with her clothes, I think they'll let us get away with pretty much anything. He paused, he really wasn't sure if she was allowed. He'd seen that teacher's kid in there quite a few times, but it was always with his dad. Eventually, he shrugged again, I honestly don't care if you're allowed or not. He said honestly.

Rosalind walked over to Deimos, wrapping her arms around him and standing on her tip toes and kissing his cheek. Don't worry, you have a vegetarian here to guide you in the right direction. If you want, you can take care of the...whatever you eat, and I'll get the healthy stuff. She giggled lightly, imagining Deimos confused, trying to figure out the difference between an orange and a clementine.
Rosie covered her mouth, trying to quell the giggles from the image. Seems like it. They haven't said anything to me about being here, and we haven't exactly tried to hide the fact that I pretty much live here now. Rosie said between giggles. She took his hand, pulling him towards the door. Lead the way. My stomach is going to eat itself if we wait much longer.

Deimos chuckled as she gave him a kiss, and let her wrap her arm around his. He nodded at her request and led the way to the staff cafeteria. It wasn't very crowded, just a couple weary-eyed staff were sitting at various tables. He made a show of grabbing a small bowl of fruit, showing it to Rosalind before going over towards the hot foods. Potatoes are a vegetable, strawberries a fruit. I know how to do this. He told her, sticking his tongue out the entire time. He went over to the barista bar, giving Rosie a chance to figure out what she wanted. He looked to the kid behind the counter. Probably another troublemaker the staff wanted to keep busy, but also keep an eye on. Wonder what he did. "Iced latte, please." He told the kid, turning to watch Rosalind.
He saw the headmaster come in with his wife, and he realized he should probably make sure it was okay for him to do the proposing thing. Keeping an eye on Rosie, he went over to him. "Sir, can I ask you something?" The headmaster gestured to his wife that he'd catch up, and followed Deimos into a corner. "What is it?" Deimos fidgeted with his hands before sucking in a breath and biting his bottom lip. "I'm going to propose to Rosie but-" "Wonderful!" "Sir?" Deimos was confused. Maybe he could believe an 'okay,' but that kind of enthusiastic reply? "I'm confused." "You two are good for each other. I'm happy you've decided to settle down." "Sir, wouldn't that count as a public dis-" "Nonsense. You're fine, I actually highly approve of this development." "I... uh..." Deimos stuttered, eyebrows furrowed, his confusion clear on his face. "Thank... thank you?" The headmaster chuckled at him, patting his shoulder. "Let me let you in on a little secret, Deimos." Deimos stared at him, unable to get himself to look away, though he was still extremely confused. "Having someone to help you, and care for you, that's part of what keeps hybrids like us around for so much longer that statistics." He took his hand off Deimos' shoulder after another pat. "I like you kid, I was starting to get worried about you." "Starting?" Deimos blurted out before he could stop it. He got back on track, shaking his head, "So it's okay that I do this?" "Yes, please. Post-haste." The headmaster agreed, not letting Deimos say anymore as he went to join his wife. Deimos walked back to the barista bar, still very confused. "Thanks." He told the kid behind the counter, grabbing his latte and going back towards Rosie.
