"'ay pup, from 'at I 'ear, ye don't eat much veggies. Figure if'n ah can git ye to eat some, yer girl will be one happy fairy. With 'er bein' a fairy an all." He leaned back so his chair was on two legs, crossing his arms under his chest and grinning, laughing. "Ye think ah enjoy bein' out late? Don't forget the headmaster is the one who assigned 'er to me, and that was the only time we both 'ad available." He laughed again. "Ye cook? Am ah 'earin that correct? Deimos Beck ac'tally cooks? Man, gettin' a girl was more good for ye than ah originally thought."

"I eat plenty of vegetables, thank you very much." Deimos argued. "I still needs vitamins and all that shit." His frown only got wider as Cailean kept talking. "Yes, I cook. I've always known how to, I just never like to. I'm not even saying I'm a good cook." He paused, seeming to reconsider that comment, "Okay, I'm better than the student cafeteria at cooking. I know this because I'm usually the one stuck cleaning the burnt food off pans at night. I don't as routinely burn my food." He rotated a hand in a counterclockwise circle, "Anyway, what I'm saying is I've always been an okay cook." He frowned. "My mom taught me growing up, saying it shouldn't be my future wife's job to be the only one to cook, or something. But then I left home at 12, so everything I know is pretty basic. But I do know how to cook." He huffed at the last sentence.

Cailean laughed as Deimos began defending himself, crossing his arms across his chest. It was amusing, hearing Deimos try to convince him that he had cooking ability. "Awright, awright pup ah believe ye." He said between chuckles. Honestly he didn't really see Rosalind as one to cook herself. He knew she was a vegetarian, though he wasn't sure how much of that involved cooking. He rose an eyebrow. "So, no veggies then? Ye want a eating contest with only meats? Awright, I kin get wit that." He let his chair fall back to the ground. "Ah insist on the watermelon though."

Deimos nodded, "Why not? We're both practically carnivores. Veggies are overrated." He said with a grin. He finished his coffee, wiggling a finger at Cailean. "Yeah. Watermelon's fine. Maybe part of the challenge would be opening it, too." He suggested. He hated to admit he was kind of looking forward to this, a chance to eat all he wanted, and potentially defeat Cailean in something for once. He was still more confident he'd have a better chance at a drinking contest, but that challenge opportunity came and went.

Cailean rose an eyebrow, leaning his chair back on two legs. With his werewolf strength, opening a watermelon wouldn't prove much of a challenge but he didn't comment on that. After checking his phone he let his chair fall back with a thump, standing and looking at Deimos. "Awright pup. Ah gots work ta do. Ah'll see ye this weekend eh? Bring yer appetite." He winked, pulling out a twenty and tossing it on the bar before saluting at Deimos and leaving.
---
The weekend came pretty quickly. Cailean pulled on a tight fitting long sleeve black shirt and dark jeans. After slipping on shoes he made his way back to the lounge to meet up with Deimos. The night before he'd made sure everything would be set up for the eating contest and that morning the person working the bar laid everything out for them. Only thing to do now was wait for Deimos to show up so they could start the fun.

Why would anyone be able to eat this early? Deimos thought to himself as he stared up at the ceiling. He crawled off the bed, careful to not wake up Rosalind, and got changed. It was tempting to just go there in his pajamas. He pulled on sweats and a lightweight sweater before bunching his hair up into a messy ponytail. By the time he was ready, he was supposed to be there already. He wasn't about to run, so he hoped Cailean didn't think he had bailed. He wasn't even hungry yet, his stomach seemed still lucky enough to be asleep.
Ten minutes past the time they were supposed to meet up, Deimos finally arrived. "I didn't really want to leave my bed so..." He began, fading off as he saw all the food in front of him. Beautiful. He thought. He looked to Cailean, "You ready to start this thing?"

Cailean sat at the bar, leaning his seat back some as he waited for Deimos to show up. It was unsurprising the pup was late, even for food. He had a feeling, had they been having a drinking contest Deimos would have been on time. Early, even. The thought caused Cai to chuckle to himself. When Deimos finally did show up, Cailean let his chair fall with a thud, smirking a bit at the look on Deimos' face at the sight of the food. It was mostly meats, a full plate of bacon and sausage (both links and patties), ham, a plate of eggs, a watermelon, cut in half, on either side of the table. There were biscuits, grits (Cai wasn't too keen on those and he couldn't remember if Deimos liked them or not but he'd decided to include them anyway), hashbrowns and several glasses of water as well in slightly smaller portions. Both of them had the same amount of food laid in easily accessible spots.
"Ahh," Cailean shook his head lightly, tsking. "Ahm a bit disappointed yuh did't bring Rosie with ya. Was hopin' she'd join ye. Ah well." He clicked his tongue. "Ah been ready, pup." Cai responded, standing and going over to sit at the table. He grinned, gesturing toward the food. "Like wot ye see? Thought ye might enjoy tha food, and ah didn't include anythin' healthy cept' tha melon. Even saved ye the trouble of openin' it yerself." He folded hands on the table, leaning on them a bit. "So first ta' finish all tha food is the winner, yeah?"

Deimos could barely pull his eyes away from the food to look at what Cailean was saying. His stomach was waking up, rather quickly as the smell of the food drifted to his nose. He went over to his table and sat down. "She was still sleeping, I didn't want to wake her. Maybe she'll be awake by the time we're done; she knows where I am." He muttered. He wished there were coffee here. Then at least waking up would be a bit easier. He blinked wearily as he nodded, "Yeah, sounds good to me." He said, still muttering. He was trying to think of what to eat first. Maybe the melon; it was the least filling of everything here. He looked to Cailean as he waited for a signal to start, his hand hovering over the melon.

"Awright pup, ye ready?" Cailean rose an eyebrow, cracking his fingers. He signed the word for "begin", going for his bowl of grits first, figuring he'd get that out of the way. He dumped his plate of eggs into it, mixing them before practically inhaling it. He'd heard somewhere that eggs and grits together were a common combination, and though he didn't care for it, it did help the taste a little. Once his egg/grit combination was gone he moved to the watermelon, eating that just as fast.
He'd started on his biscuits when the door opened and a half asleep Rosalind walked in, rubbing her eyes. She was dressed in a t-shirt that he recognized as Deimos', and presumably a pair of shorts and sandals. She looked around, spotting them and pouting at the. She shuffled over to them, sitting at the end of the table that didn't have food on it, reaching over to pluck a strip of bacon from both their plates (she had to keep it fair, right?)
"You guys are gunna make yourselves sick." She said as she munched on a piece of bacon.

Deimos was nearly done with his watermelon when Rosalind came in and sat down. He watched her, but kept eating. He was only a little behind Cailean, he couldn't lose now. But, as his fiancee picked up two strips of bacon, one from each of their plates, and took a bite, he had to pause. Really, he had to stop himself from choking, and he forced himself to swallow his food before he actually did. "Uh... Rosie?"

Even Cailean had to pause in his eating, swallowing the bite of biscuit and looking at the fairy. From what he knew, Rosalind was a vegetarian. Was she awake enough to know what she was doing? "Er...guid morn rosalin'." He said, scratching his head. "Ah thooght ye didne eat meat?"
Rosalind paused in her chewing herself, blinking at the two, and then at the bacon in her hands. "I don't..." She muttered. "What is this anyway?"
Cailean shook his head, looking at Deimos as if to say, "you can handle that," and finished off his biscuit, moving on to his bacon and sausages.

Deimos narrowed his eyes at Cailean, but then turned to Rosalind. It's uhh... It's bacon. Pork. Meat. Deimos told her, shifting awkwardly. He resumed munching on his watermelon, much slower this time. I get it's morning and all but... I thought you knew what meat looked like. He added, raising an eyebrow at his fiancee.

"I do..." Rosie murmured, not awake enough to bother trying to send the answer telepathically. Cailean looked between the two, a slightly amused smile on his lips. He could only assume Deimos had spoken to her telepathically since she had answered an unspoken question. It wasn't as if Cailean didn't know the two used other means of communication, but it was interesting to witness all the same.
"Weel pup, seein' as neither ay us ur pure tryin' anymair, we main an aw caa it an end." Cailean said, swirling his cup of water around. He glanced at the remaining food; while both had made pretty impressive progress in the short time they'd been eating, Cailean still had slightly less food than Deimos did. "An' it looks loch Ah won."

Deimos looked between his plate and Cailean's. "You cheated!" He accused, though he had no idea how he could justify that accusation. He grabbed a roll from his plate and munched on it grumpily. He returned his attention to his fiancee, munching lazily on the roll. You're eating meat. He stressed again.
