DEIMOS SAMAEL BECK deimos, greek, dread/the god of terror (Δεῖμος) | beck, german, brook/stream.
|
| Dei (like "day"), Demi male, married to Rosalind Neveah Bonnertwenty-three, May 20, 1995 Werewolf-Vampire Hybrid 5'9" (175 cm.), 145 lbs. (65 kg.), thin, toned naturally black, dark brown Changsun Lee (Joon), played by REDEIM |
Likes: sleeping, being able to follow a conversation, spending time with Rosalind, hanging out with his brother, steak/burgers/meat, coffee, long sleeve shirts/clothes in general, finding things to look at/games to play on his phone, Marvel comics, Deadpool, Hawkeye (non-MCU), anime, manga, Disney movies, Underworld Series, Interview With a Vampire, Bitten, Teen Wolf, Switched at Birth, Harry Potter Series, snowball fights, eyeliner/eye makeup. Dislikes: amnesiac dissociation (it tends to cause bloody scenes), pain, vegetables, leaky headphones, most other were-vamp hybrids, being sober, suicidal/intrusive thoughts, erasure of disabled characters in media (looking at you, MCU). Strengths: lip reading, somehow never got alcohol poisoning, can recognize when his moods are shifting, is aware when he needs help (whether he acts on that awareness is another story altogether), is practically never absent (he's probably dying if he's not at work), he's an impulse spender but there's not a lot he really wants, so he's good at saving money, very attentive to his surroundings most of the time. Weaknesses: Has occasional amnesiac dissociation, borderline personality disorder, chronic pain, struggles with self-harm, alcoholic, low self esteem, general destructive behavior, quick to anger, doesn't want to change his vices, he's lately had a hard time not self-harming. Hobbies: reading (mostly comics/manga), playing on his phone, spending time with his brother/Rosie, eating, watching videos, sleeping. Goals: To be at peace Other Information: He has had a history of self-harm for as long as he can remember, and he has quite a few scars, and for a while it only got worse after he stopped drinking. He had never been treated for it because he did a good job of making it seem as if he was clumsy, or by making injuries look like an accident. He seems to always be on the lookout for his next vice. He's actually really lonely, but because of the back-and-forth love he (unintentionally on their part) felt he got from his adopted parents growing up, and highly conflicted feelings towards his bio parents, (and having bpd,) he tends to push people away. He's afraid he'll be abandoned by them, or worse, he'll make a mistake and they'll leave him. He has a really hard shell to crack, but once you get past it, he's actually just a soft, dorky, vulnerable kid.
|
- Brash/Impulsive: He doesn't always think through his emotions, and will act on them without thinking of the consequences
- Self-Destructive: He's working really hard to fight his suicidal thoughts, but he still seems a bit careless in terms of getting injuries.
- Alcoholic: He agreed to stop for Rosalind's sake, but it's been rough for him.
- Borderline Personality Disorder: Because of this mental illness, he tends to feel certain emotions at an almost unbearable level. The most common ones are anger and sadness, but it has happened a couple times where he's been extremely happy as well. This disease is also part of the source of his reckless behavior, and his desperation to simultaneously not get close to people but also have people he can call friends.
- Secret Softie: Inside his "cold, dead heart" is a kid that just wants some friends and to be cared about unconditionally.
|
| He grew up with everyone expecting him to cause enough trouble to warrant his death. He's brash towards strangers at best and outright violent with them at worst. He's tired of everyone making assumptions about him because of the nature of his birth. He's quick to dismiss people that irk him. Despite all this, he really, really wants a small, solid group of people he can call friends. The only person he immediately trusted was his brother, but he is starting to gain a few more friend-like acquaintances as of late, and he's secretly really happy about that.

Deimos was alive for barely a day when he was abandoned on the steps of a human orphanage, not even given a name, never knowing his true origins. It's recently been confirmed his biological parents were hoping he'd be killed. He spent about a year in the orphanage before he was adopted by an open-minded couple that was already aware of the supernatural world, going back home with them from Athens to Ziros in Eastern Greece. Almost immediately, they realized there was something... off about him. He wasn't even babbling, so they took him to a doctor. The doctor told them he was deaf, but really they should "put him down" since he was a were-vamp hybrid. His adoptive parents were appalled and refused, beginning to teach themselves and the boy sign language. When he turned four, his parents started him in speech therapy, hoping exposure to it young would help him in everyday life.
He was an extremely cranky and troublesome toddler. Doing research, his parents discovered it was probably the beginning of a lifelong battle for Deimos. Due to being a werewolf and vampire hybrid, he couldn't transform into a wolf to quell the animal, but also couldn't properly digest blood as needed for vampires. He was stuck in the middle, with no options (though his parents found that making him rare steaks ironically helped a bit, and it's still his favorite food). They tried sending him to a regular, nearby school, but he attacked a student the second she disagreed with him. Thankfully, were-vamp hybrids can't infect others, so her visit to the hospital wasn't as serious as it could've been, and Deimos was expelled. He ended up going to nine different elementary schools.
By the time he was about to start middle school, after quite a few quit, a rather brave psychologist that stuck with him had (still somewhat hastily) diagnosed Deimos with Borderline Personality Disorder, Depersonalization Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and Selective Mutism. Some of which was theorized to be caused by chronic pain of not being able to transform (mostly the depersonalization disorder), and the mutism assumed to be due to his being deaf.
After attacking another person when he was twelve, a scouter noticed there was commotion going on in that city due to a hybrid. Finding the source was a preteen boy with multiple issues, the scouter offered to take him to a place where they knew how to help his kind. He was reluctant to leave his parents, but after being hurt at how fast his parents agreed to let him go to "be with his own kind," he agreed to go.
He had a hard time adjusting to life at the academy, finding there were too many rules, no one spoke his language or knew sign language, and he couldn't fit in with his peers at all. And that would only be noticeable when they even bothered trying to talk to him. He got in trouble plenty of times while still taking classes, from ruining school property to sneaking into the adult's lounge and drinking. He had a hard time making friends, even with the other unfortunate hybrids like him when they showed up. Although he was given extensive speech therapy both as a kid and while studying at the academy, he would still more often than not choose to stay mute.
He was practically exiled by the student population when he was 18, and ended up experiencing his first amnesiac dissociation, and ended up killing a researcher. He's still scarred from that day, not knowing what happened or how he killed the human. He went into a very deep depression, and was scared of himself. He tried to commit suicide using pain killers and alcohol, but it didn't work, and he woke up in the hospital wing a few days later. The story of the researcher's death still circulates within the walls of the school, so even the younger students tend to try to avoid him still. From age 18 to only very recently, he's only had Rosie stick by him no matter what he was going through, though he kept his suicide attempt a secret from her for a very long time.
After graduating from the school (barely), he returned home to his parents. Although the reunion was nice, it quickly became bittersweet when he overheard (well, over-saw, really) his parents talking about how they didn't know how to continue care for him. Bitter, he attacked them on a particularly painful full moon, and he was admitted to the psychiatric ward, and his parents initially didn't seem keen to look back. He was seething in anger for days.
However, his anger didn't last long, as his parents came back not too long after his forcible admittance to explain to him everything they knew, about his birth, about when they found him, about all the research they'd done but still they never really knew what they were doing, and they were scared. They had broken bones and bloody bite marks because he was irritable just for one night. Although he knew he had to be adopted, as were-vamp hybrids were never born to humans (nor Asians typically born from white parents), this was the first time Deimos got any confirmation of it. It's caused him to make jokes or stop being surprised when he learns something new about his family, because "after all, it took them 21 years to tell me I was adopted."
After he was released, he decided to return to the Academy. He couldn't be of much use with humans, but the academy would find something for him to do. Not even four months after arriving, he again bid his parents one last goodbye before leaving, originally pretty sure he was never going to ever see them in person again. He is given odd jobs around the school now, and lately he's been just sent to help in the dish room.
His personality has calmed significantly as he's grown, and became a bit softer than he was as a child. He still experiences chronic pain, and though most of the mental disorders have been dismissed, he still has been confirmed for borderline personality disorder. Initially avoided by almost all other peers (as most were-vamps in general are), he's slowly learned to become a bit more sociable. The peers that also stayed, or like him, returned, to the academy, have grown to be more relaxed around him as well, though he's still pretty rough around the edges. He's also not quick to talk with anyone that doesn't know sign language (not that he'll completely refuse, he just finds it a burden).
He found out in 2017 that he has a younger brother. Somehow, his brother is rather... average. No health disorders, except for the pain that comes from not being able to transform. Deimos both feels anger that his biological parents abandoned another child and a need to fiercely protect his younger brother. He was later told by Felix that his, or rather, their parents were presumed dead, and that was probably why he had been placed in an orphanage. He also didn't remember their origins. At first only suspecting a relation since the younger boy was practically Deimos' spitting image at that age, they eventually convinced the academy doctors to do a genetic test, confirming they were brothers. Since the 11 year old significantly softened Deimos' brash personality, this is the year his peers have found it much easier to approach him and try to befriend him than in previous years.
In winter ("summer" in the northern hemisphere) of 2017, he discovered his parents were very much alive when they showed up at the school to get reprieve and possibly help as teachers. Deimos has not been happy about it, and he's also not all that thrilled to find out his origins. Although he now knows his heritage lies in Hong Kong, he's still quick to say he's Greek.

| Felix Adler: loves and protects him. even before it was confirmed they were related, deimos had a strong protective instinct for the boy. Andreas Beck: he still cares for him and misses him, but he's a bit relieved to be away from home. Zoe Beck: still loves and misses her, but they get into fights easier than deimos and his father. they always make up in the end, but they tend to butt heads a lot. Deb Lam: he's mostly avoided her since their reunion, but he gets (irrationally?) angry around her. William Lam: again, he's mostly avoided him since reuniting, but gets really angry, but also tense, around his bio father. deimos is bitter that his father is stronger than he is.
