Deimos paced the floor of his room, pausing at the counter to look at his computer again before pacing again. All the places they were looking at moving to didn't speak English as their main language, so that already put him at a disadvantage. On top of that, a couple places brought up had less than ideal living conditions for people with disabilities, let alone for supernaturals. Of course he wanted to get out here. He'd had cabin fever pretty much since the very first time he came in at 12. He wanted to avoid his bio parents, which despite the sheer size of the school, was frustratingly difficult. He had only come back to the school because it was a place he could run away to quickly, and the flight would be paid. He had gotten Rosalind to agree to go to Greece first, to spend the holidays with his family, but he hated the idea even though he had promised his parents he would visit. Even though he meant it this time, he hadn't wanted them to meet Rosie yet. But it made no sense for him to go home and return just to leave again. A part of him was worried he'd realize how much he truly missed his home country, especially now that he and his parents were truly on good terms, and want to stay there instead. He'd been thinking too much lately. He needed a place with a good rehab program, it was getting difficult to stay sober. He also needed a place that didn't look down on mental health, because he needed a psychiatrist for sure. He had done research - there were ways to get BPD into remission. He could be healthier; happier. But for now, he paused his pacing, looking to the door. Rosie should be back soon. He needed someone to take his mind away from his current thoughts. He was overthinking again, and overthinking led to bad things. He furled and unfurled his hands, trying to keep himself from scratching at his arms. He went back to his computer, grabbing an apple from his counter and looking back at his computer. Sri Lanka, which he had a feeling Rosie just suggested as a "first thing that came to mind" place to go, actually had a large deaf community compared to some other countries, but it was still learning a new language, which Rosalind didn't want to do and Deimos felt it would take him forever to do. His mind was convinced they'd fail. Something would go wrong. He put the apple back and flopped onto his bed, burying his head with pillows. The negative thoughts kept coming, he wanted them to stop. He needed them to stop. He'd mess up somehow, and Rosie would leave him in some unfamiliar country, where she probably knew the language better even if she barely knew any of it. He'd have no way of communicating, he'd end up alone, stuck in an unfamiliar country. He felt like his mind was spiraling into darkness, just repeating each scenario with progressively worse situations. Tags: Rosalind Neveah Bonner

Rosalind shuffled her way to their room, backpack slung across his shoulder and a sigh on her lips. She'd had another tutoring session with Cailean, but instead of just school work she'd been getting him to teach her sign language as well. Specifically Greek Sign Language. She figured after having been roomed with Deimos for so long, Cailean would have learned something, and after learning that he actually taught himself the language, she immediately asked him for lessons. He agreed, on the terms that she bring her grades up to at least a C average. It was a struggle for sure, and Rosie was more stressed now than she'd ever been, but it was worth it.
She'd finally learned enough to justify showing Deimos, but she wasn't sure how he'd react. It could be a good reaction because she took the time to learn something she really didn't have to in order to communicate with him (though telepathy was easier it was also draining), but if he knew who she learned it from his reaction would be less than ideal. But she still wanted to show him.
So she slipped into the room, almost immediately dropping her bag onto the ground and yawning. She noticed Deimos laying on the bed, and the negative feelings seeping from him. She pouted lightly, going over to him and plopping down on top of him, kissing him on the cheek. Hey, Demi. Rosie said, rolling off him so she could tuck herself in front of him, smiling up at him. Wanna see something I learned recently?

Deimos jumped a bit as Rosalind came in the door. Even though he knew she'd be back any time now, his mind just wasn't prepared for someone to walk through the door. He smiled to her as she kissed him. At her question, he sat up on his elbows, curious. "Hmm?" He hummed. Thinking so much made him tired. He rested his head against the headboard with a light thunk, letting out a sigh. Maybe while they were sitting here they could discuss moving plans again (not that he hadn't been trying to discuss them practically every day). If they could just finalize a place at least, he felt like maybe his mind would be a bit more at ease. Maybe he could some peace finally.

Rosalind sat up, crossing her legs on the bed, her hands in her lap. She was going to sign a greeting, but she could tell he was stressing over finding a place for them to go. And she knew she hadn't been much help, telling him she didn't care where they ended up as long as it wasn't Bali. So he had the entire responsibility on himself, and Rosie felt bad. Especially since he was dealing with keeping clean and not self harming.
So, even though she hadn't told him, Rosie had been thinking about where to live. She waited until he was looking at her to sign "I think we should move to Greece." She kept her eyes on her hands as she slowly signed the words, fumbling over a few.
The best option seemed to be his hometown. Even though she knew he didn't want to go back that much, it was a place he as familiar with, and he didn't have to learn an entirely new language. And the weather was the type she would be happier in. After a moment Rosie looked up to see his reaction.

Deimos stared at her hands long after they stopped moving. He seemed to be stuck in a daze as he looked from Rosalind's hands to her face. As he finally processed that she signed to him, in the sign language he knew at that, his mind finally started processing what she said with sign language. Greece was on his mind the entire time, but the economy there made him weary to suggest it, even though he had wanted to just default to it. Athens would be too expensive, but maybe they could go to Corinth or Piraeus to get the city vibe while still staying out of the actual city. And that way they'd be just far enough that his parents couldn't randomly visit them. Finally, after what felt to him like minutes, he broke out in a smile, having processed everything. Instead of commenting on her decision though, he pointed to her hands, "Where'd you learn that?" He asked her aloud.

Rosie knew the question would come up, but she still found herself unprepared for how to answer it. She faltered, looking down again and hesitantly signing, "Cailean." Immediately after she moved towards him until she was practically in his lap, chewing on her bottom lip. He told me he learned Greek Sign Language after he met you and I asked him to teach me during our lessons. She switched to telepathy, not knowing enough to be able to sign the words. Though she still tried to make what few words she did know as she spoke. He only did it after I promised to bring my average up to a C. She added, unsure if he'd even noticed how much her grades had improved, though the late nights she spent over her text books lately probably showed him that.
She looked down at her hands, her eyebrows adorably drawn in a frown as she tried to sign the next words. "I love you." She smiled up at him, wringing her hands together, the only sign that she was currently nervous. That's the first thing he suggested I learn, the first thing he said I should show you. He said you'd appreciate that the most. Of course that plan had flown out the window, but Rosie still got the desired result. He also taught me how to sign 'malaka'. She paused as she slowly signed the word, sure she was messing it up. After she looked back up at him, a look of confusion on her face. He said you'd appreciate that too, but I don't get what it means.

Deimos' eye twitched as his gaze turned dark. So you're telling me... He began, using telepathy but also signing it to give her the practice (hell, he was feeling out of practice with sign language himself), that the valedictorian of my year learned GSL, roomed with me, and still didn't offer me any help? His face seemed stuck in an annoyed frown. "When exactly was he going to tell me he knew it?!" He said out loud, his signing seeming forgotten. "Fuck I hate him." He growled in Greek. He managed to calm himself down for once, giving Rosalind a smile, "I love you too," he signed, "and I'm thankful you decided to learn." He said as well as signed the last part.
He narrowed his eyes as Rosalind signed malaka. How long did Cailean know the meaning of that? He had used it on him just recently and he pretended to not know what it meant. Hell, he'd been using malaka on Cailean pretty much since they met. Uhh... He began telepathically. It's uh... it's a bit of a complicated word. The meaning changes depending on who you're directing it to. He explained simply.

Rosalind tried to focus on his hands but the movements were blurring together, and it was a lot to take in at once. Still she kept her eyes on them, a look of concentration on her face. She shrugged, glancing up at him. Was he angry now? I-I dunno. She still wasn't exactly sure of their relationship, though them hating each other never made sense to her, especially because they seemed similar in so many ways. But Cailean never offered information, and she didn't dare bring up his name around Deimos. When he signed he loved her too she smiled, mostly because it was something she could actually recognize. She shifted so she could press a kiss to his mouth, nearly falling into him from the way she was sitting. "I thought it would make you happy." She said.
At his explanation of the word she frowned, tilting her head again in that confused look. The meaning changed? So what did it mean since Cailean had been directing it at Deimos? Was it a bad word? Rosie sighed, pouting and jabbing a finger into the bed. I don't get it. She huffed, looking at him. Is it a bad word?

Deimos chuckled as Rosie almost fell, smiling through the kiss." It makes me very happy." He spoke, giving her a break from following his hands for a moment. "Thank you for learning it. It means a lot to me, really." He assured her.
He switched back to telepathy, it uh... it can be. He tried to think of an example. ah, it's like when friends will call each other derogatory terms, but they become terms of endearment instead between them. That sort of thing. 'Malaka' isn't something you want to say to strangers, but among close friends it's not really a bad word. He explained.

Instead of righting herself, Rosie settled against Deimos, sitting so that her back was pressed against his chest and she could sign with him being able to see over her shoulder. "You're welcome." She stumbled over those words like she had the others, her brows drawn in another frown. Some words were still harder for her to remember than others, especially the "easier" phrases. She couldn't imagine what it'd be like to verbally learn the language.
She rested against him, pulling his hands so they were wrapped around her waist and closing her eyes. Her energy level was at an all time low, with the added work she was doing to bring her grades up, and learning a new language. It was worth it though, to be able to make Deimos happy. He deserved to be happy more than anything. She yawned, frowning again. It still didn't make sense. But you guys aren't friends, right? I mean, I don't get that either but, last time I checked you two hated each other. Does that mean he insulted you? Or was he calling you that because he really likes you? Not that she'd tell Deimos this any time soon, but whenever she spoke about him around Cailean, she never got a feeling of animosity from Cailean (not that she could say the same for Deimos whenever she spoke of Cailean), but instead he held respect, and even felt affectionately for the hybrid. Of course, that only further served to confuse her. Why did he egg Deimos on so much if he didn't dislike him?

Deimos let her guide his arms, resting his head on her shoulder. He chuckled at her struggle to sign correctly. He supposed for someone just learning it'd be hard, but it was like a godsend for him. His parents had worked hard to learn it and teach him in the process, so he was "talking" in full sentences even when his peers weren't yet. He kissed her cheek, "You're doing a good job." He told her out loud, but also moving his hands to where she could see and signing it.
Deimos shrugged, going back to resting his head on her shoulder. I mean... I definitely h- He began, but paused. After their most recent conversation, Deimos almost couldn't say he still hated the guy. They had more in common than he originally thought, which would've bothered him pre-Rosie, no doubt. Of course he knew there had to people with similar pasts, but to actually meet one of those people, and have them be rather close whether he wanted to be or not, was a strange feeling for him. I don't like him. So to me it's an insult. He answered finally.

Rosalind smiled at his compliment, her heart flipping a bit at his words. They made her happy, hearing from him that she was doing a good job. She tilted her head up a bit to see him, beaming a smile at him. "Thank you." She signed back, happy that she could remember that much without messing up at least.
She shook her head, sighing lightly. She still didn't get it. What was it about Cailean did Deimos not like? It wasn't like they saw each other that often. Why don't you like him? She questioned, blinking up at him. She twisted a bit so she was sitting sideways, leaning against him and taking one of his hands in hers. He likes you I think. He's never said it out loud, but I can tell he he doesn't really hate you. I don't get why you guys don't get along.

Deimos took advantage of her head tilt to give her a kiss. "No, thank you." He signed back to her, a soft smile on his face.
He took his head off her shoulder for good finally, if only to hide his face behind her. He was realizing he'd never mentioned his sexuality to Rosalind; it was just something that never came up. He wasn't worried about whether she'd be okay with it or not, she wasn't the type to start hating someone based off something like that. He hesitated even more because to admit he initially had a crush on Cailean, which later just turned to bitterness, wasn't really something he ever wanted to admit out loud. Hes just so.... perfect. It bugs me. He lied. It wasn't a complete lie, with how much he struggled in school he was bitter at all his classmates that were getting perfect scores. He felt like his hesitation would make Rosie suspicious, but he hoped she'd accept his answer as him just being himself. I don't care if he likes me or not. He added, also doing the "I don't care" in sign language.

Nobody's perfect. Rosie hummed, closing her eyes. She traced random circles on the palm of his hand, yawning. A nap sounded heavenly, but she was also starving and needed to do some homework before attempting sleep. Instead of doing any of that though, she blinked her eyes open and shifted so she could push Deimos onto his back, laying on top of him. She gave him a cheeky smile before kissing him. 'cept for you. She said, knowing he would protest the words. Before he could she rubbed her nose against his, kissing him again. I think you're absolutely perfect. And I like you~ I more than like you. I love you, even.

Deimos let Rosalind push him back onto the bed, wrapping his arms around her once she got comfortable. He raised an eyebrow at her comment, I am far from perfect. You need to get your brain checked. He told her matter of factly. But I love you too.
