“‘Ey pup, ye seen Rosalind around?” Cailean asked Deimos as he entered their dorm.
Deimos snarled a bit, looking up from the comic he’d been reading to glare at the werewolf. “What do you want with Rosie. And would you quit calling me pup?”
Cailean dropped his bag on his bed, straightening and stretching. He flashed a grin in Deimos’ direction. “I were thinkin’ o’ askin’ ‘er out today.” He commented. He rummaged through his bag, pulling out a jacket he’d balled in there earlier that day. It was one Rosie had commented on liking sometime last week. He glanced back at Deimos, shrugging the jacket on, and noticed the hybrid looked ready to kill him. Cailean inwardly winced at the thought, it was in bad taste.
“She’s fourteen.” Deimos hissed.
“Aint stoppin’ you none, is it?” Cailean rose an eyebrow when Deimos visibly froze. He stuck his hands in his pockets, smirking. “Think ah don’t see it, huh? Only ones who can’t see it are you and her.” Cailean leaned a bit towards Deimos, dropping his voice a bit. “Only difference ‘tween me an you, pup, is ah ain’t ‘fraid to do somethin’ about it.”
“Cailean I swear if you put one paw on Rosie I’ll--”
“What?” Cailean interrupted. “If ye aint bothered to do nothin’ with her now, ‘ow am I supposed to know ye’ll do somethin’ ‘n the future?” Without waiting for a response he rose a hand in a goodbye wave, going to the door. He’d stepped out of it, only to poke his head back in and say, “Ye can’t do nothin if she’s willin’.” Cailean closed the door quickly, not bothering to wait around to see Deimos’ reaction.
Rosie hummed lightly to herself as she walked towards the boy dorms. Class had run a little long today, and even though she wanted nothing more than to go to her room and sleep until morning, she hadn’t seen Deimos all day and she wanted to at least say hi before disappearing from society. She felt a bit more tired than usual today, a nightmare had kept her awake and trying to get Deimos to respond to her sapped what little energy she’d had left. So a brief hi was probably all she could do.
She’d almost made it to the dorms when she noticed a familiar face heading towards her. “Oh! Hi Cailean!”
“Miss Rosalind. How are ye?”
Rosie giggled lightly, his accent never ceased to amaze her. Before coming to the school the most she’d ever heard was the Indonesian she’d grown up with, with her father’s and a few other American accents sprinkled around. Hearing Deimos’ accent, when he actually spoke to her, and now Cailean’s was a treat to her.
“I’m okay. Sleepy. Erm...is Deimos home? He hasn’t been responding to my...messages.” She asked with a pout.
A look passed Cailean’s face, but it was too quick for Rosie to make out what it was. “Yeah, the pup’s in there.”
He should have guessed, she only had eyes for Deimos. Cailean couldn’t say he understood why, but it was what it was. He watched as a small frown crossed Rosalind’s features, and then a few moments later a smile lit her face and she looked just past him.
“See you later Cailean~” She hummed as she practically skipped by him. He turned slightly to see her throw her arms around Deimos, who he swore looked at him with a smirk.
Damn that mutt.
“Why have you been ignoring me all day?” He heard Rosalind whine cutely, and then heard Deimos mutter “stop poking me!” as he grabbed her wrist. At Rosie’s giggle he shook his head and rubbed a hand through her hair gently. Even if the pup wouldn’t admit it, he was falling for Rosalind fast and hard. It was easy to see why. Cailean only hoped Deimos would treat her right.
Ah well, there was no fighting that. Cailean let out a short sigh, turning and walking toward the cafeteria.
