Deimos thought back, then shook his head. No, I don't have a license. I had gotten a permit when I went back home, but then ended up in the hospital before I could get the driver's test. He let her swing their hands, his mouth turning down into a slight frown. If he was going to be somewhere where it was sunny, he preferred it at least be in a place that spoke his native language. Soon, he told her instead.

Oh... Rosie hummed, not saying anything more on that subject. As they neared the beach her eyes fell on a familiar figure. Which didn't make sense. How could he...?
"Rosa?" The figure asked as they neared.
Rosie froze, dropping Deimos' hand, her own flying up to cover her gasp. She took a step back. "Adair?"
Adair scooped his twin into a hug, holding her tightly. Rosalind managed to wiggle away, hands moving across Adair's face, unable to believe he was real. Tears pricked her eyes. "What? How? What are you doing in Hawaii?"
"I'm a ghost...I guess." He ran a hand through his hair, his other hand in his pocket. It was clear the two were twins, Adair looking like a slightly older, male version of Rosie. "I woke up shortly after I died." His face grew pained, the memory of dying in his sister's arms not a pleasant one. "You'd passed out, the pain of your wings being ripped off and what those bastards did to you was already too much. Siphoning my pain exhausted you too the point where you couldn't stay away. Dad is the one who found you, and I followed you home. I can't believe dad said those words to you..." He took a breath. "I followed you when you ran. It was the last town you were in that I lost track of you. Turned my head for two seconds...anyway, I remembered you had been looking at places to go, and this had always been on the top of your list, so I thought I'd come here first. When you weren't here, I didn't know where else to look so I stayed. It took me a while to learn how to become visible and to hold things and make myself not look 13."
The two fell quiet, Rosie taking a while to digest what he'd said.
"Rosa." Adair said. "I'm sorry. If I hadn't pushed you to..."
"I don't blame you." Rosie quickly shook her head. "I never have." She bit her lip, gesturing towards Deimos. "I mean, I never would have met him if none of that happened. This is Deimos. He's, er... he's my fiance."

Deimos stopped as Rosalind did, looking between his fiancee and the person who looked... exactly like her. He could only assume this was Adair... but how? Or rather, why didn't Rosalind know her twin was a ghost? They were talking quickly and possibly not 100% in English so he didn't bother trying to keep up until Rosalind gestured to him. He looked up, his rapid blinking exposing that he hadn't been paying attention at all.
Adair said something, but Deimos didn't really bother trying to understand him. He probably should, considering apparently his future brother-in-law was going to be around literally forever. He instead took the social cues, shaking Adair's hand as it was offered and muttering "nice to meet you." He had always imagined his getting to know Adair would be through stories from Rosie, not... meeting him. In person. Or... not technically? Ghosts were always weird to him. When he was going through classes, a lot of ghosts were often shoved into hybrid classes. Apparently recently that was stopped. He never knew how to act around them. Apparently that awkwardness extended to future family. He looked to Rosalind desperately, as if trying to silently signify he had no idea how to continue without actually using telepathy.

Adair looked from Rosie to Deimos, confusion growing on his face. "Fiance...Rosa? You're getting married?" He shook his head, smiling widely. "Ah, why am I so confused? You always dreamed of having a huge wedding. Princess dress, tiara, doves and flying in on--" He stopped, regret filling his eyes before they softened. "I was worried the attack changed you. You seemed so...so broken afterwards. And then dad..."
Rosalind quickly shook her head, her chest tightening with his words. "I was...for a while. But Demi actually helped me a lot. He was the only one who didn't see me as damaged." She smiled lightly. "After I left home, I wandered from town to town. It was the town you lost me in that a Scout from this school called Otherworld Academy approached me and told me that I could go there if I wanted a safe place. I went because...well I didn't know where else to go. It's in Antarctica, which is cold and snowy all the time, but the school is full of people like us, all sorts of supernaturals. That's where I met Demi."
"Awww, how cute." Adair couldn't help but coo, pinching her cheeks. "So have you guys had--"
Rosie quickly put her hand over her twins' mouth, glaring at him. "By the way, he's deaf. So he has to read your lips. Or er, I've been talking to him telepathically."
Adair rose an eyebrow, turning to Deimos with a slight smile. Thank you for taking care of my sister.

Deimos was paying more attention to their lips this time. He still had a bit of a hard time following their conversation though. He wondered for a moment if Adair had a stronger accent than Rosie and that was why he couldn't follow him as well. He raised an eyebrow at the question he was pretty sure Adair was going to ask, a smirk playing on his face but not saying anything.
He visibly jumped at an unfamiliar voice. He hadn't been this surprised since Rosalind first used her telepathy on him. He looked at Adair, giving him a stiff nod. He shouldn't have been surprised, they were twins after all. But still, it was weird to hear someone other than Rosalind. Uhh... Yeah. No problem. Deimos said hesitantly.
Suddenly, a realization struck him. Hey, Rosie... Do you think your brother is the supernatural the Headmaster was talking about?

Rosalind blinked at Deimos' question, looking from Adair to Deimos, and then back to her brother. "Oh!" She squeaked, clapping her hands together. Probably! We haven't found anyone else. She turned to her brother, smiling widely. "Hey, Adair. That school I was talking about? The Headmaster actually sent us on vacation mostly to celebrate the fact that I didn't completely fail out, but also because they wanted us to keep a lookout for a supernatural roaming around here. And knowing you, we think it's you he was talking about. Would you want to come back to the school with us when we leave?"
Adair scratched the back of his head. "Waddya mean knowing me?"
Rosie huffed, punching Adair in the arm. "Well?"
"If it means being with my baby sister again why not?" Adair wrapped his arms around Rosalind before she could escape him, rubbing his cheek against hers.
"I'm only like a minute younger than you!" She whined, trying to push him off her. It was embarrassing, especially with Deimos standing there. It all probably seemed strange to him. "Okay get off me!"

Deimos watched them with amusement. It was weird to see Rosalind acting this way, but he could only assume this was their dynamic before Adair was killed. He was more relieved to see Rosalind back to her same bubbly self, no matter how temporary.
Despite the current awkwardness, he was hoping Adair would agree to come with him. He almost felt bad they'd be leaving soon. Is he gonna come with us? He asked Rosalind, not even sure if she had gotten an answer yet.

Oh! Rosalind quipped, finally managing to escape the grasp of her brother. Adair stood with his hands on his hips, a grin on his lips. That was a yes. He's coming back with us. She was more excited than she was letting on. Mostly because she hadn't thought she would ever see Adair again and all of a sudden there he was, just as ridiculous as he had been before he died. But also because he would be able to see the place she'd called home for the last eight years, get to know Deimos and Cailean and even Felix.
Rosalind was mostly excited for the fact that the people she called family was slowly growing, and they were people who chose to love her.
"We were just going to the beach." Rosie told her twin. "Did you wanna join us?"
"Ahh, I think I'll let you two enjoy the rest of your day. I've got a date with a clueless lifeguard and some mysterious floating water. Where are you staying? We can get together tomorrow?" Rosie gave Adair the name of the hotel and their room number, and also told him that she could always reach him telepathically whenever. After saying goodbye, Rosalind turned to Deimos, unsure of what to say.
Her eyes unexpectedly filled with tears, and she drew in a deep breath, wiping at her eyes with the back of her hands. I didn't think I'd ever see him again. Rosie told Deimos, hiccuping a bit. I'm so happy.

Deimos had a faint smile staying on his face as he watched the siblings interact. For a moment, his mind wondered how his life might have been different if he and Felix had never been abandoned. What kind of dynamic would they have then? Where would they even be living? Would they know Chinese? Would he still have bpd? He looked away from them, suddenly feeling melancholic. No point in wondering the what ifs.
He was shocked when he looked up again and saw Rosalind was crying. He knew her and Adair had said bye to each other, but he was again not focusing on their lips so they could have some privacy. He awkwardly pulled her into a hug, rubbing her back. He didn't really know what to say. What does a person say to someone crying of happiness? I'm happy for you... He said, though even he knew the words sounded a bit empty.

I'm sorry. Rosalind hiccuped, rubbing at her eyes and taking a deep breath. She was sure Deimos had no idea how to comfort her, so she smiled up at him, giggling softly. I'm okay. Just overwhelmed a bit. I didn't think I'd ever see him again. Him becoming a ghost never even crossed my mind.
She stood on her tiptoes, kissing him lightly. After pulling back she took his hand, smiling up at him. Did you still want to go to the beach? I still wanna swim and maybe get a tan.

Deimos shook his head at her apology. You don't have to apologize. Not many people assume their deceased loved ones will end up as ghosts. He told her with a simple shrug.
He smiled momentarily at the kiss, reciprocating it before looking out towards the beach. It seemed brighter over there somehow, but if Rosalind wanted to enjoy some sun, he wasn't going to stop her. And vitamin d was good for you, or something, and apparently that also applied to half vampires (or at least that was what his mother always told him), so he supposed a little bit of sun wouldn't kill him. As long as you still want to. He agreed. He took her hand and began walking towards the beach again, turning around to face her, a playful smile on his face. But what is this 'tan' you speak of? I only know sunburns. He joked.

Rosie smiled up at him, giggling softly at his question. It's this thing that happens sometimes to people who actually go out in the sun. Of course you wouldn't know what it is since you like to stay in your cold, dark, cellar. She teased, looking back towards the beach. She was still excited to actually be in the sun and sand, now that the initial shock of her brother being a ghost.
Once they reached the sand she practically kicked her shoes off, smiling at the feel of sand. Rosie wanted to swim, but she suddenly remembered the bite mark on her neck and her hand went to the scarf she'd thrown on at the thought. She couldn't very well swim with the scarf on, and taking it off would only raise questions.
Let's walk around a bit. Rosie offered, looking up at Deimos.

Deimos followed only a few steps behind Rosie, a soft smile on his face. Maybe moving to Greece was a good idea; it had been a while since he had felt this relaxed, this happy. If Hawaii could do this to him, what would his home country do for his mental state (especially once he was away from his parents)? Maybe he'd even be able to stay sober. Maybe.
As he saw Rosie take off her shoes, he decided to pull his off as well. He also finally cracked, ripping off his jacket and wrapping it around his waist. He took Rosalind's hand again as they began walking along the beach.Okay. He agreed simply. It was a beautiful beach, long and with bright sand and sparkling water. Of course, there were far too many tourists, but he supposed that was to be expected. And yet sure enough, not a soul seemed to notice they weren't human. This sort of test, in a sense, was proving to him that leaving the school was a good idea. It wouldn't be a cure-all, but at least for a little while, he'd be able to be perfectly happy, as long as he was with Rosie and she was happy.
Did you used to go to the beach a lot? He asked curiously, after noticing there had been silence for a good while. And swim a lot? He added as an after thought.
