Weaknesses: Remembering to stay hydrated, going to bed at a decent time, math.
Hobbies: dancing, drawing (poorly), swimming, learning.
Goals: Learn as much as she can about life outside of the water before she has to return.
Even though Aurelie spends the majority of her time with Salem, she loves making new friends, but she is always hesitant approaching people because aside from Salem, her father was the only other person she interacted with.

Aurelie is a very friendly girl. She loves being able to talk to people and making friends, even though it is hard for her to do so at times because her social skills are limited to two people - her father and Salem. Despite that, she still tries her hardest, though it tends to come out a bit awkward. She tries to remain optimistic though, and is always friendly towards people who speak to her. She still spends the majority of her free time with Salem, though. Her flighty and forgetful nature tends to make her seem a bit airheaded, though she is quite smart in reality.

Aurelie was born the only daughter to Benedikt and Elisabet Leif. She was a surprise baby, as they hadn't been trying for a baby and hadn't been expecting her. Still, she was loved all the same. 

When Aurelie was around 3 her mother decided to venture onto land, something that wasn't uncommon amongst mer-folk, but wasn't done frequently. She'd wanted to get a shell she'd seen for Aurelie, and promised that it would only be a few hours at the most. A day passed by without word from Elisabet, and then two more days before Benedikt made the decision to search for his wife. He found her, on the shore, dead from dehydration. From then on, he forbade Aurelie from going onto land, fearing his daughter would have the same outcome. 

Aurelie didn't have many issues following that rule. She loved swimming and didn't really see the appeal of going onto land anyway. That is, until around the age of six when she noticed the water above her moving in a way she'd never seen before. Aurelie chanced going near the surface, peaking to see a boy manipulating the water somehow. She'd never seen anyone other than other mer-folk, and the sight of this person scared her. After a moment she poked her head back out of the water. Her and the boy, a witch named Salem, became friends soon after, and before long Aurelie began developing the desire to step onto land as her mother once did so that she could spend more time with Salem.

When she expressed this to her father, at first he was against it, not that she'd expected him to readily agree. But after asking over and over, and promising that she wouldn't forget to go into water, Benedikt finally agreed, on the condition that she go to Otherworld Academy.

She hurriedly went to tell Salem the news, and was excited when Salem said he was going as well. 

Being at the Academy has taken her quite a while to get used to. Especially the cold, when she was used to the warm waters of her home. Still, she loves being able to be on land, and being able to spend as much time as she can with Salem.
