"Shut up." Cailean said when Deimos began talking. The words didn't register in his mind right away, and when they did he dropped his hands, feeling the weight of the last few weeks on his shoulders. It was crushing. "Don't you do that. Don't you dare do that." He looked up at Deimos, unable to bring himself to move more than that. "Do ye 'ave any idea what this does to me?" Cai gestured towards Deimos' wrist.
"This should'nae even 'ave been bleedin' in the first place you stupid mutt." His voice was surprisingly calm for how angry he felt in this moment. Cailean reached out to grab Deimos' wrist again, the grip tight enough so that Deimos could feel Cai shaking. "I am not going ta do this with ye again Deimos. Do ye not think findin' ya unconcious and dyin' once was enough for meh? Ye think I could do it again? Ye think I am strong enough to deal with that?"
Now that the words had begun flowing Cailean couldn't stop them. "Do ye think so little of yeself that ye truly believe I think ye to be a burden? I would'nae be here e'ery day if ah thought that. I would'nae have stuck around so long if I thought that." He took a breath. "Ah love ye, Deimos. I see ye as a brother, as much as I pick on ye. And seeing you do this to yerself don't feel good to meh, but I will'nae sit here any longer and watch ye do this to yerself. I could'nae handle it."

Deimos was taken aback by Cai's words. For a moment he was speechless, noticing Cai's hands were shaking. He had never felt as emotionally raw as he felt now. Cailean had never said words like that before. He loved him? "All the more reason to get out of your life." He muttered. His face hardened, and he let out a low growl. "And how else am I supposed to feel? Everyone has told me I'm too much trouble or a burden, or something. You'd probably live better without me around." He sat up, taking his hand back, "No one asked you to come here, Cai. Go back to the school or something."

Once again Cai's body was moving before he full registered it. It wasn't until after he'd grabbed a fist full of Deimos' hair, his palm stinging that he realized he'd slapped the hybrid. The hurt and fear changed into full blown anger, and Cailean took a full moment to ensure his voice was steady before talking.
"Do not say that to me Deimos. Do not think fer one moment that ye are the only reason I came to Greece. I knew ye were selfish pup but I did'nae think ye would destroy your relationships with everyone ta prove it. As long as ah 'ave known ye, as long as ye and Ros'lin have been together, and ye still truly believe we think ye are a burden?"
Cailean tilted Deimos' head back roughly, a low growl emitting from his chest.
"Ye do not realize how much yer selfishness hurts others, do you? Ye did not think fer one moment that having to carry your lifeless body ta tha infirmary was hard fer me? Ah had nightmares for months after. If I truly saw ye as a burden don't ye think ah would have left ye there to die? And poor Ros'lin. Been there fer ya for so long, through so much. And this is how ye repay her? By droppin' here without so much as an explanation? As if she could possibly love someone as much as she loves ye?"
Cailean didn't release his hold on Deimos, wanting to be sure he was paying attention to him. "Ah do not know 'ow else to get it through yer thick skull that being utterly and 'elplessly alone is not yer only option. That ye 'ave people who want to be with you." He glanced at the welt on Deimos' cheek, almost feeling bad about causing it. "But outside of beatin' it into ya ah have no ideas."

Deimos felt the sting of the slap before he even registered he'd been hit. He didn't have time to react to that though as Cailean grabbed him by the hair. He winced, barely managing to keep his eyes open enough to process what Cailean was saying. He wanted to fight back, but something in him wouldn't let him. He felt like a dog with its tail between its legs, being scolded and punished.
He wanted to tell Cailean it was the nature of bpd to destroy every bridge he tried to so carefully build. That he tried, really tried not to jump to conclusions but his brain wouldn't let him live him in peace. But his voice just wouldn't work, he opened his mouth but then closed it again. A lump was forming in his throat again. At this point, true recovery seemed impossible, when a month ago he was well on his way. He had gone nearly six months without alcohol or self harm and it all came crashing down when he just made an assumption. The rational part of him knew Rosalind would never cheat on him, she needed him just as much as he needed her. But his stupid mind wouldn't shut up about it. His chemically inbalanced brain would sit there and convince him his wife was cheating on him with the first other guy she met and he was nothing but a burden to the other people that got close to him.
He squirmed uncomfortably, trying to get out of Cailean's grip, but failing. He still couldn't form a rational sentence, and now his chest ached to accompany his throat. He clenched his hands into fists, looking away from Cailean. "How is she?" He asked quietly. He chewed his bottom lip, glancing to Cai occasionally to see if he'd speak. He was worried about Rosalind, of course he was, she was sleeping in a flower shop for heaven's sake. But he couldn't address his own problems, not yet. He had no less than twenty texts from his therapist, and except for one telling her he was still alive, Deimos hadn't responded to a single one. Felix had also messaged him, but he barely reached out to his brother as well. He knew where to start, if he fixed his relationship with Rosie, his mood would at the very least change by 90° and he'd go from complete executive dysfunction to depressed but functional. At this point, he really owed it to Cai, but his mixed feelings for the werewolf refused to let him admit that. Maybe one day he'd say thank you. 'Hey by the way, thanks for not letting me die I guess.' Yeah... That'd go over well.

The anger left Cailean as fast as it had hit him, and he finally let go of Deimos. He cradled his hand a bit, the sting still there. After a moment he stood and went into the kitchen, making a makeshift ice pack with a towel and returning to press it against Deimos' cheek. "Ahm sorry for hittin' ye."
At Deimos' question Cai took another pause and then sighed. "Not good. Pretty sure she haven't slept since you walked out on 'er, and the shop looks like the apocalypse hit it." The most annoying part was that Cai could tell Deimos still loved Rosie, and that he thought he was doing what was best for her. Cailean just wished the stupid mutt would think for once instead of just reacting based on his feelings alone.
"Ye should know Deimosaki mou, the boy you left Ros'lin to be with is engaged." He took a moment to allow this information to sink in and then continued. "In fact, they tie the know this fall ah believe. The only reason he made friends with Rosie is cuz his fiancee' is also a fairy and he wanted to learn more 'bout them."

Deimos took over and held the ice pack up to his cheek gingerly and watched Cailean. He felt like his heart stopped at the mention of the dude having a fiancee. Had he really been that blind? Of course he had. It was just like him to be that dense. It was as he was brooding about it that he realized what Cailean had called him. He narrowed his eyes, scowling slightly at the other man. "Don't call me that." He said, though unlike usual, there was no malice in his voice.
He looked down in his lap, picking at the edge of one of the bandages that had just been put on him. "She probably hates me..." He murmered. He looked back up at Cai with a pained expression, "I already promised her like a year ago I would try to ignore the irrational thoughts. I knew she'd never cheat. But I still accused her. How the hell do I make that up to her?" And how many times will she forgive me before my mental illness chases her away for good? His mind asked, though he couldn't bring himself to voice it.

Cailean flicked Deimos on the forehead before smoothing his hair back. "Stupid runt. Ye go an tell 'er yer sorry and were an idiot and beg fer 'er forgiveness. She's hurtin' but she don' hate ye. Worst thing ye could do is not go ta her."
Rosalind was stubborn sure, but the times Cai has tried to get her to come talk to Deimos were meet with refusal, and her claiming that Deimos had to be the one to come to her. It made sense, since it was his fault but in all honesty Cai didn't care who came to who as long as it was resolved and he could sleep knowing all was right in the world.
"Yer wife is an empath. She knows all 'bout actin' from emotion. She'll fergive ye." For his sanity's sake he sure hoped so.
After a moment of quiet Cailean decided to do something he knew would shock Deimos and pulled the younger man into his arms, hugging him. He pulled away saying, "Ah know ye don't think so but ah don't see ye as a burden, Demi. Ah'm happy you've tolerated me long enough to keep me around fer so many years." He cleared his throat, ruffling Deimos' hair. "Are ye gunna make up yo Ros'lin now?"

Deimos looked down, letting out a sigh. "I guess I'd better..." He muttered. He ran a hand along his arm, and it stopped at the band-aid on his wrist. Rosalind would be disappointed at how fast he fell because of something he did. He stood up with a sigh, looking to Cailean. "Thanks, I guess." He muttered, glancing to the other man, "But you don't have to lie, either. You said it yourself I was burdensome."

"Plenty o' people say things they don't mean when they're angreh pup." Cai said, offering a barely there smile to Deimos. He knew what he'd said was wrong, and that being angry wasn't a very good excuse for it. "Ye are hard to work with but that don't make ye troublesome. Ah've enjoyed knowin' ye fer all these years. Makes life interestin'."
Cailean wrapped an arm around Deimos' shoulders. "Don' worry too much bout yer wound. Ros'lin has probably assumed ye've been doin' somethin' stupid to yerself in the time ye've been apart. She won't be much surprised bout' it." He ruffled Deimos' hair. "Want me to drive ya? I bought a new car and I've been needin' a reason to drive it." He wasn't sure whether or not he'd told Deimos yet, but Cai had recently purchased an apartment that was within walking distance of Deimos. Originally he was supposed to just be visiting but he actually liked Greece, and he couldn't in good conscious leave Rosalind and Deimos out here alone.

Deimos looked down, "If you say so." He said blandly. His hand went to his wrist again, "Gee, thanks." He muttered. He hated that Cailean was probably right. Rosalind would assume he'd destroy himself before actually apologizing.
He raised an eyebrow, "You bought a car? Why? You're going back to the school, aren't you? Why did you buy a car???" He stressed. He couldn't have Cailean living here. He left the school to get away from everyone except Rosie. That definitely included Cai. Now he was bitter, he'd gotten his driver license just over a month after they got here, and he still didn't have a car. How the heck did Cailean get a car? How did he get the money for a car? This was unfair. "Yeah, sure, whatever." He answered belatedly.

"Did I not tell ye?" Cai feigned innocence, blinking and tilting his head to the side. "Where do ye think I've been staying at this whole time? Ah bought me a place to live couple weeks ago. Coulda sworn ah told ye. Told Ros'lin at least."
He trailed off, shrugging a bit and leading Deimos to the door. "None of that matters. Let's go get yer gal."

Deimos wanted to protest more. What made Cai decide to stay instead of go back? "What did you find a girl or something?" He muttered under his breath, but followed Cailean to his car. It was a nice car, and Deimos was trying to hide his jealousy at seeing it. He wanted a car. It would make life a lot easier. Then again, he supposed not having a car had one pro to it; his parents hadn't asked him to visit since the holidays (though they had started bugging him about visiting for the upcoming holidays).
He got into the car and pulled out his phone. He couldn't think about what he'd say to Rosie, figuring he'd just wing it/let his heart speak for him, so he hesitantly opened his text messages. There were five from Felix, the last one a dramatic, Fine, ignore me. :(((((( Then there were the ones from his therapist. The notification said there were ten but he had checked a couple days ago just to get the notifications off his screen. Sorry I've been missing my appointments. This week I'll be there. Until then I'm ok. He sent to her. He'd figure out what to tell Felix later, but he didn't need to be put into another involutary psychiatric hold because of a paranoid therapist. He'd take care of getting Rosie to forgive him, and then work on his brother.

"Course not." Cailean shot a long glance at Deimos before sighing, "Do ye really think ah could in good conscious leave ye and Ros'lin here to fend fer yerselves? Ah'd worry to much." As much as he joked about it, Cailean was completely serious. When he learned Rosie and Deimos were moving to Greece, his first thought was that one or both of them would find a way to burn the house down within the first month. He had to be near them for his own piece of mind.
"Don't worry." He continued as they got settled in the car. "Once ye make up with Ros'lin, ah prolly won't be 'round nearly as of'en. Ah'll let ye live yer life as peacefully as you are capable."

Deimos snorted bitterly, As peacefully as you are capable? What did that even mean? Deimos would kill for peaceful. He'd do anything for even just five minutes of his brain shutting up. "I don't believe you only came here to play guardian to me and Rosie." He stated stubbornly. He glanced from his phone up to Cailean. "Don't tell me you're attached to us or something." He sneered. "You were supposed to stay at the school and watch over Felix for me."
