((Takes place at an undetermined time in 2019. Ikaika first mentioned here. Tags: Rosalind Neveah Bonner ))
Rosalind double checked the box, then the test. Then she took another one. Then went to the store and bought a different brand and tested it again. After Deimos went to work the next morning, she went to the doctor. Even with an ultrasound she could barely believe it. She was still staring at the picture when Deimos got home just around lunch time.
Is everything okay? He asked, noticing her troubled look.
Rosalind didn’t know how to break it to him softly, so she just told him straight out, Deimos I’m… pregnant.
A mixture of emotions crossed Deimos’ face, and Rosie couldn’t even place what he was feeling at the moment. H-how? He asked her.
She could tell he wanted to ask it. But after the last time he jumped to conclusions, Deimos was hesitant to even say the “cheat” word for irrelevant topics. He chewed his bottom lip, very clearly wanting to ask.
I’ve been with no one else, Deimos. Rosie told him firmly.
Deimos sunk into a chair, eyes unfocused as he seemed to stare at nothing. But I can’t…
I know. Rosie stopped him. I don’t know how… But it happened. We’re going to be parents, Demi.

Deimos initially didn’t know how to respond. All his life, from the first bit of information he found about hybrids it said they were sterile. His initial thought was she and Cai had an affair, but he knew that was stupid from the moment it came to his mind. Besides, Cailean had just found some girl he was actually showing interest in, and he’d left Rosie alone in a romantic sense since they were teens. And he hadn’t seen Alex around since he supposedly got married. He couldn’t believe it, but Rosalind seemed to accept the fact and was currently happily bustling about the apartment doing who-knew-what. Cleaning maybe. His eyes drifted back down to the picture, where a red circle highlighted a little spot. It was too surreal.
About a week passed, and Deimos had finally stopped being shocked about the fact that he was going to be a dad - to his biological child, but dread was starting to set in. There was no recorded evidence of there ever being a triple-hybrid. He even asked the Headmaster about it, but the only response he got was excitement, a bit of jealousy, and an extremely simple response: Never heard about one.
What would the baby inherit? Was it more likely to inherit his deafness? His bpd? Would it have body pains? What would it get from Rosie? He had so many questions and just couldn’t get answers.
It was nerve-wracking to have to wait for the answers, but every time they went to the doctors, they were told the baby was looking healthy. At one point, they noticed something strange about the baby, but couldn’t make out what it was. The doctor assured them it wasn't a bad strange, just strange.
About six months into the pregnancy, they received other good news. The adoption they had filed for about a year ago was finally approved. They had suddenly gone from being a couple expecting to never have kids, to having two kids. Two hybrid kids.

“This can’t be good…” Deimos muttered, running a hand through his hair as they lingered in the car.
It’ll be fine, Deimos. Ikaika’s a good kid, and our baby will be happy and healthy.
You don’t know that, Rosie. There has never been a triple hybrid. Never. And Ikaika is a good kid from what we’ve seen but he’s still a hybrid. Deimos stressed.
Rosie was about to say more when she noticed the dominant emotion coming from her husband. Deimos, stop. There’s nothing to be scared of. Every parent feels fear, whether they’re adopting a child or having a biological one. I’m scared too, but that’s no reason to call a kid troubled just because they’re a hybrid, or wish sickness on an unborn baby.
I don’t… Deimos began, but stopped and looked down, clenching his fists tightly.
Deimos looked at Ikaika in shock. Is this the same kid we saw cowering in a corner a month ago? He asked Rosalind.
Rosalind didn’t seem to be listening to her husband at first, cooing over how cute the boy looked in a blue button down with a bow tie and a tooth - one of his fangs - missing. He was smiling and talking fast. He’s excited to have a family. Especially one that will understand him. He’s also excited to be getting a baby sister. Rosalind began, but covered her mouth. She had meant to keep the gender of the baby a secret, to surprise him with later.
We’re having a girl? Deimos asked, excited.
Surprise? Rosalind said weakly.

Ikaika did get into trouble occasionally, but most of it was from bad moods due to pain. Despite his own pain, Deimos was pretty adept at taking care of the boy when he was troubled.
Everyone was excited when the baby was born, despite her being born on a full moon, and not even ten minutes before Rosie’s water broke Ikaika and Deimos were going at each other for something minor. Rosie had decided on the name, calling her Aoede, which meant “song” in Greek. She had been thrilled when the baby was born with tiny wings, the “strange” things the ultrasound couldn’t quite pick up.
Aoede was a fussy baby, much like her father had been. It made Deimos worry she got the body pains of a hybrid, but that was something they really wouldn’t know for sure until she could talk. She was hearing, at least, though Deimos would be lying if he didn’t say a small part of him hoped he’d have another deaf person in the family. Being deaf wasn’t bad to him, it was everything else about his life that he hated. Rosalind was quick to make sure she wasn’t suffering from the crying alone, often projecting the sound of the baby monitor to Deimos. Being parents took adjusting, but they were doing surprisingly well, and Ikaika warmed up quickly to being a big brother.
