Others: Annemarie has a tattoo on her right shoulder of a rose, her left forearm of bird on a branch and a star on each wrist. They don't have any significant meaning, they were simply a means of rebelling against her parents.

Annemarie, though she has the tendency to come off as it, is not actually conceited. She is very spoiled and angry at being forced into the school, and tends to turn her nose up at people. But part of that is simply the time she was born, and the fact that she had very little responsibility. She tends to stick to herself, though being at the school is forcing her to learn to socialize with people and keeps her from withdrawing to someplace by herself (that doesn't stop her from trying).

Annemarie was born the youngest child in Romania in 1867. She grew up as more aristocratic daughter did; leaning singing, drawing, and piano. She was also required to memorize poems and learn not only her native language of Romanian, but also English and German. Her life was an easy one by all means, and she was more or less spoiled.
Just recently, her parents announced that because she was the only one of her sisters not married, and she didn't have any intention of picking her own spouse, her parents arranged for suitors to come to their home. Annemarie naturally protested, not wanting or willing to be tied down to someone who was only going to rule over her. 
At first she would turn suitors away, saying she didn't like how one looked or how another was too old for her. Soon she began refusing to see them all together. It was then her parents drew the line, realizing she was maybe too spoiled for her own good. They announced that if she would not get married, she would attend Outerworld Academy (they had refrained from sending her before because the Academy was still fairly new). Of course Annemarie protested that as well but her parents would hear none of it, and she soon found herself on her way to Antarctica.
Annemarie is angry at her parents for sending her away, not understanding she was sent away because of her attitude and to learn some humility. She doesn't socialize at all with the students, avoiding them and hoping to get through fast so she can go back to her life in Romania.

Tavien Petre: Tavian also got married and moved away when Anne was young, she did not form a relationship with him.
Rahela Ionita: Anne grew up with Rahela, though they were never close because of Anne being spoiled and Rahela not being able to stand her younger sister.
