Annemarie, though she has the tendency to come off as it, is not actually conceited. She is very spoiled and angry at being forced into the school, and tends to turn her nose up at people. But part of that is simply the time she was born (late 1800s), and the fact that she had very little responsibility. She tends to stick to herself, though being at the school is forcing her to learn to socialize with people and keeps her from withdrawing to someplace by herself (that doesn't stop her from trying).
If she ever managed to make a friend she would more than likely be rather protective of that person. Well to her it would be protective, to anyone else it would seem selfish and as if she were monopolizing that persons time.
