Annemarie slowly walked down the stairs, the sound of her heels echoing off the empty walls. She enjoyed the sound, it meant she was alone, a rarity in the school she'd been forced to call home. She kept one manicured hand along the wall as she made her way down the stairs, sitting on the second to last step once she reached the bottom.
She came her often when she wanted to be alone (which was pretty much every day for her). The Vampire room was always too crowded, and library was louder than what a library should be. Going outside was considered unsafe for the students, so those who were not ghosts or were's weren't allowed out, and if they were it was only for a short amount of time. Annemarie didn't dare go to the rec floor, knowing it would be crawling with students. This school felt more like a prison than anything else.
It had to be a prison. Why else would her mother and father force her into such a place? All because she refused to be forced into a marriage? This was ridiculous, and Annemarie couldn't wait to be done with this place so she could go back to Romania. Back to the life she was used to. Though she had to ask herself, did she really want to go back? What was to stop her parents from trying to force her into marriage once she returned.
Annemarie placed her chin in her hands, sighing.

Kiyoshi sighed as he looked around the hallway. It was quiet. Too quiet. Where the heck were all the students? He heard noise coming from a nearby corridor and followed it. He saw the top of a girl's head before she disappeared down some stairs. He went that way, casually, trying to not make it seem like he was following her. Really, he wanted interaction. Hane had just left this morning and so his room was too calm and peaceful. He wanted interaction with other people. As he got a better view of the girl, he saw it was a student. He wasn't very familiar with her, but if his memory served him correctly, she was a vampire. He didn't actually know her though, considering he only taught ESL at the moment, but he figured there was no harm in meeting new people. He stopped quite a bit further up the staircase than her, leaning against the railing and shoving his hands into his pockets, "Pretty boring around here, huh?" He quipped, looking at the wall across from him.

Annemarie heard the footsteps before she heard a man talking. It was a bit hard not too, given how quiet it was in the room. At his question she barely moved her head in his direction, more of a show to let him know she'd heard him, stifling a sigh. There went her quiet. "I would not say that." Her voice as quiet and polite, and laced with a heavy Romanian accent.
She turned after a moment to look at who spoke, vaguely recognizing him as a teacher in the school. She'd never taken a class of his, and honestly didn't even know what it was he taught. Annemarie allowed herself to sigh, why was he talking to her? "You are a teacher, are you not? Do you not have a class at this time?"

Kiyoshi raised an eyebrow, looking down at her, "I am, and no. I'm only teaching ESL right now, so I don't have a full schedule." He told her simply. He pushed himself off the railing, going a bit closer to her and sitting on a stair a few above hers, "So... what, you always just come down empty corridors to sit and sigh on stairs?" He teased her lightly.

Lucky him, Annemarie thought to herself, forcing herself not to move when she felt him move closer to her. She really had wanted to be alone, but she supposed that was just wishful thinking, especially with the amount of people in this class, students and teachers alike.
She finally turned to look at him, eyeing him up and down. Even if Annemarie was annoyed with him interrupting her quiet, even she had to admit he was pretty cute. So far that was all he had going for him. "Yes, actually." She said in answer to his question. "It is one of the rare times I get to be alone, since this school is crawling with people, and there are not very many places to just sit and be in the quiet."

Kiyoshi was a bit surprised when he saw her face. She was really beautiful, though she seemed rather pompous. He waved a hand at her, giving her a skeptical look, "There are plenty of places to be alone, if you look hard enough." He told her simply. To be fair, the last time he went to most of those places was when he was under five years old, but he knew some of the places still existed. Some were now being used by other students, but a couple had still been undiscovered. "Due to constantly shifting necessities, the school cycles through areas of construction pretty often, so there's a lot of old, unfinished rooms that no one goes to because they think it's unsafe. But actually, the construction workers have to make sure it's structurally sound first and foremost, 'cause otherwise it's a risk to the entire school." He shrugged, "So pretty much any spot that's abandoned construction and is blocked off, is actually perfectly safe." He said matter of factly before backtracking, "I probably should not have told a student that, but I've never seen them enforce the barriers, unless it was currently under construction." He told her, his eyes looking at her as he gave her a cheeky smile, "It may be a bit dusty at first, but I've seen students fix up abandoned places pretty nicely."

"Are there, though?" Annemarie question, inspecting her nails. She would have to repaint them later, they were starting to chip. She pulled her sleeve further down her hand. "I have a hard time believing that there are any places that doesn't have someone in it that isn't outside or off limits to students."
Annemarie made a face when he began talking about the under construction rooms. She'd of course seen the rooms he was speaking of. Who hadn't? There were a lot of them. But she had also seen all the dust that resided in the rooms as well. And Annemarie & dust did not mix well. "Fixing it up" was not something she wanted to do either.
She crossed her legs, looking at him again. Understanding why people wanted to be sociable with her when she so obviously avoided being near people escaped Annemarie. It was no secret she resented being here, and though she acted more stand-offish than she really was it seemed to do the trick for the most part. This guy hadn't gotten the memo though, usually people figured she didn't want to talk by now. Why hadn't he? She sighed. "Going into a dusty room does not sound like a good idea." She brushed her hair behind her ear. "Is there a particular reason why you came into the stairwell?"

"Oh, well, then you only have stairwells." Kiyoshi said simply, giving her a nonchalant shrug. She was definitely snobby. He could see it in her demeanor, her words, her look. Probably a student most people avoided, he'd bet. There were a few students like that. Hell, for a little he was one of them, after he started trying to manipulate teachers. Going for an elf hadn't been a smart move though. Still, that was behind him now. He put his elbows on his knees and rested his head in his hands, "Maybe I also just like to sit in stairwells to be alone to brood." He told her cheekily before waving a hand at her and returning it to it's original position. "Nah, I'm bored. Thought I'd bug whoever had gone through the hallway." He smiled and raised his eyebrows at her, "So, lucky you."

"I am not brooding." Annemarie said, getting a bit defensive. She didn't understand why people automatically assumed she was a brooder just because she liked being alone, and in the quiet, with her thoughts. "I simply enjoy sitting alone and being able to think without much interruption." She twisted to look at him, crossing one leg over the other. At his words she slowly shook her head. "Yes, lucky me indeed." She fell silent, her eyes returning to her nails. She could practically hear the headmaster telling her she needed to be nicer, that she'd lead a very lonely life at the school if she continued to be so callous and standoff-ish. Annemarie sighed, looking at the man again. She recognized him as a teacher, but since she'd never had a need to take his class she had no idea what his name was, or species for that matter. "So you are a teacher but I do not know what you are called. Or what your species is. You do not look like a were, or a vampire."

"So brooding." Kiyoshi commented simply. He put his face in his hands, swaying back and forth slightly. He gave her a sarcastic grin at her "lucky" comment, but it fell at her next question. "Why does it matter what I am?" He asked her. "But, I am Kiyoshi. And if you really must know, you are correct. I am neither a were nor a vampire. I'm a fairy." He told her. He gave her a grin, "Why? Got a problem with that?"

"I am not brooding." Annemarie said again, a frown on her face. Why was he so insistent that she was? She had never been a brooder, didn't plan on starting now. At his response she gave a shrug. "Perhaps I was just curious. I am a curious person when the subject interests me. Besides, it is proper manners to introduce oneself when you begin a conversation." She looked at him, raising an eyebrow. "Why would I have a problem with what you are?" She asked, though she was surprised he said he was a fairy. He didn't have wings as far as she could tell, and wasn't that usually a mark of being a fairy? She sighed. "I am Annemarie." Telling him her species was unnecessary, he should have been able to tell from her fangs.

Kiyoshi raised an eyebrow at her insistence on brooding, but let the subject drop. He shrugged as she asked him a question, "I dunno," he spoke honestly, "usually people's first response is, 'oh, but you don't have wings.'" His voice went up higher, turning mocking as he imitated the 'other person,' and he rolled his eyes to punctuate his sentence. She still seemed pretty stuck up, one of those older vampires that felt they didn't belong at the school; he'd heard about plenty of them, not only growing up but even now. Teacher's loved talking about their students behind closed doors. It made him wonder what they said about him while he was in school. "Well, Miss Annemarie, it's nice to meet you." He said, feeling like he was mocking her high class attitude, though he meant it sincerely, as a sort of truce to their somewhat less than ideal introduction.

"You do not have wings." She said, as if it were common knowledge. She wouldn't bother asking him why though. For one, she didn't really care how or why he was wingless, and she was sure that if he wanted to share he would have. But she doubted he would, especially to her. She crossed her arms beneath her chest, leaning back against the wall. Was it really nice to meet her? She didn't think so. It wasn't usually a thing people said to her, though they didn't normally stick around this long to get to that point. "I suppose it is nice meeting you as well." She said, if only to be polite. Blakwell would be proud of me. She thought a bit bitterly. "So...is there a reason why you are still here talking to me?" Annemarie realized that came out worse than she meant and she took a breath, closing her eyes and trying again. "I mean, most people do not stick around this long."

Kiyoshi raised an eyebrow, She supposes? He questioned, a bemused smile on his face. Was his presence that unpleasant? Was it because he was a teacher? He had a feeling she was generally annoyed at people existing around her though. "Did you not want me talk to you? Do you often expect people to leave after just talking briefly with you? Is that an intentional expectation then, and you just act cruel in hopes annoying people like me will leave you alone?" He asked her, not giving pause between the questions, only pausing once he was finished. He looked at her expectantly. She was definitely stand-offish, he could see why most people wouldn't give her time of day after an introduction unless it was by force. Still, he saw no harm in the vampiress in front of him. She just seemed like a spoiled kid that had been sent to boarding school.

"I..." Annemarie started and then paused, frowning. She was going to say no, she didn't want him talking to her. That she would prefer if he left her to be alone. But she already had the Headmaster down her neck to be more sociable, and there was always the fear that if she went back home unchanged, her parents would just find someplace else to ship her off to. She sighed. "I was never one for social interaction. You must understand, in the time I grew up, women did not socialize very much, unless entertaining a potential spouse. Especially with my family, it was barely be seen, never be heard." She sighed. "I do not have much practice with socializing. So yes, I expect people to not wish to spend much time with me."
She sighed again, looking up at him. She wondered if friendships between students and teachers was weird? "I do not mind your presence. It is just something I will have to get used to, being here. Students seem to not have a care for boundaries so I suppose I will have to get used to it sooner or later."
