Meat is protein, therefore healthy. So yes. Deimos said, giving her a cheeky grin and sticking out his tongue. He pouted, Hey now, that set up was expensive. He whined. He hadn't actually bought the initial set, but an agreement had been made between him and the headmaster that he'd pay it off with chores, or when he tried to return home, after getting a job. He'd finally just finished paying it off, he didn't need it all stolen by his girlfriend. In that case, guess I should let you move in?
He glanced at the coffee pot again with a sigh, setting down his cup by it and putting on fresh clothes, sausage hanging on his lips. I'm pretty sure that would count as PDA if you moved in, though.

I meant food in the not meat department. She hummed, only teasing him. At his next words she looked at the bed and then back to him with a grin. All the more reason to steal it. I'm pretty sure my bedding came from the dollar store and therefore not comfy at all. Rosie bounced on her feet, nodding at his question. Obviously.
While he pulled on clothes Rosalind went over to where he'd placed his cup, picking it up and taking a sip. Of course she immediately put it back down, coughing and making a face at the taste. "God how can he drink so much of that." At his words she hmphed. It's not public if no one can see us, silly.
She waited until he was done before bouncing over to him and taking his hand in hers. Ready for food?
~~
Roughly a week went by, most of it being spent with Deimos, when Rosie wasn't in class or he working that is. She hated those moments when they were apart. Rosalind took those moments to try and strengthen her telepathy, sending out small probes here or there to see if she could sense him. It was hit and miss the first few tries, but when she'd finally gotten a confused Rosie? she knew it was working.
It took her a bit longer to be able to establish constant communication with him, working on longer and longer distances each time. But she excited when she was finally able to talk to him from across campus without straining herself. She wasn't sure how it'd work when it was countries away but she was getting stronger and better very quickly, so she wasn't too worried. Besides if all else failed, they had cell phones.
Still, tomorrow morning Deimos was leaving. And she was not as ready to say goodbye (even if it was a few weeks and not forever) as she thought she was. Thus she sat on Deimos' bed (she'd more or less moved in at this point), classes having ended for the day, waiting for him to come back from whatever he'd had to do for the day, hugging a pillow to her chest.

Deimos let out a tired sigh. The headmaster had tasked him with cleaning things on the opposite side of campus from the classrooms, so he'd stop running into his biological parents and causing problems. However, that meant he had to walk across campus just to get started with work, and so by the time he'd filled up eight hours of his day, he was almost too exhausted to walk back to his room on some days. And the exhaustion was in no way helped by a serious case of insomnia. He was pretty sure he'd slept about two hours in the last four days. At least now he had Rosie to keep him company. She'd clearly been practicing her telepathy, and now they could communicate without having to be within feet of each other. He was rather impressed with her determination, and also a bit relieved. She could also transfer certain emotions to him, and though it wasn't quite as strong as their link, it helped keep him from getting in far more trouble than he could have had he been left unchecked. At one point in the week, he'd realized she was probably practicing so they could keep the link once he left, and a part of him really hoped it would work. He'd never heard of fairies being able to telepathically communicate with anyone a continent away though, and there were enough fairies and fae with similar abilities, he felt it would've been talked about if it was possible.
He passed his bio father's classroom, and even though the older man wasn't there, Deimos let out a low growl, kicking at the wall by the door before continuing on back to his room. Finally, he made it to his door. He leaned against it first, debating how against falling asleep in the hallway he was. Eh, I'm already here. He told himself, opening the door and trudging to the bed. Because it was the day before he was leaving, he'd only had to put in a few hours, but the week was catching up to him. The anger, most noticeable among many other emotions, he felt every time he passed one of their classrooms was catching up to him. The fact that he had actively tried to lessen his drinking throughout the week to survive the trip sober didn't help his emotions. They almost felt more raw, and therefore more tiring. Hi Rosie. He said as he plopped down face-first on his bed, even though he didn't even glanced at her coming in. He rolled so he could see her, letting his legs hang off the bed, and he reached out and ran a hand along her cheek. I'll really miss you. He told her honestly, his face turning a bit sad. He felt like no matter what they did, he couldn't spend enough time with her. The week had gone by too fast. He'd been too busy dealing with alcohol withdrawal symptoms that he felt like he didn't appreciate the time spent with her enough. He closed his eyes, exhaustion definitely present, but sleep still wouldn't come. What I'd give for a shot of brandy. He thought to himself. Alcohol was a catch all for him in terms of his issues. It blocked out pain, helped him sleep, and let him take a lot longer to process difficult things, such as finding out his biological parents were alive and wanted him dead. And now he had to not drink for an indeterminate amount of time. The two weeks was only an estimate after all. Maybe he could get away with it on a day off. Surely they wouldn't be looking for the kid 24/7.

Rosalind looked up when she heard the door, a tiny smile crossing her lips as Deimos dragged himself into the room. While she'd been getting better at communicating with him long distance, and keeping that connection, that was also making it harder for her to sever the connection. Which meant most of the time she was probing his emotions, whether she wanted to or not. It was a bit exhausting at times but it helped her know how he was feeling when he refused to tell her himself.
So she could easily feel his anger and general lack of energy well before he came into the room, and didn't mind when he immediately fell onto the bed instead of looking at her. Hi. She responded at his greeting, smiling a bit at him as he rolled to see her. She caught his hand with her own, pressing her mouth to his palm. I know. I'll miss you too. I already miss you. She admitted quietly. She tried to tell herself it was only a few weeks, not forever.
Rosie shifted so that she was laying next to him, wrapping her arms around him. You're tired. You should try to rest, especially since you have to be up early tomorrow.

Rest? What is rest? Deimos asked, only half joking. He'd love to get rest. He wanted nothing more than that. But no matter how exhausted he'd get, he'd close his eyes and sleep wouldn't come. His mind hadn't seemed to stop reeling for a week straight. He knew some of the reasons - such as two people he wanted to presume were dead, that left him on a the steps of an orphanage because they were on the run, or desperate to give him a better life, were very much alive and very disappointed he was too. Or the fact that he finally had someone that admitted they loved him, and they were proving to do so unconditionally. How his adopted parents, even though they messed up, did better raising him than he originally thought. How he was going to have the chance to see his parents within the next couple days. How he was going back to Greece. So many thoughts, constantly flooding his mind when he took a moment to try to do nothing.
He took the hand she put on his, returning the kiss on the back of her hand. I'll be back soon. He told her, also trying to convince himself. He'd watched scouts talking. The longest mission he could recall, it took six months to find the supernatural, it was partly because the teen was in the middle of nowhere, Africa, and didn't actually have any bad stories, which was what better spread like wildfire among human communities, but also because scouting was hard. He'd seen scouts admit they got lucky, found a few kids within a week that could use access to the academy, but it didn't happen very often. For all he knew, he could be gone for the better part of the next year. He hoped, since they had leads and new reports and knew the city the hybrid kid was in, that wouldn't be the case, but it also didn't mean the possibility of them being gone a long time was impossible.

Rosalind gave him a look, shifting so that his head was in her lap. She gently ran her hand over his eyes to coax them closed, rubbing his hair soothingly. She slowly projected calmness on him in a slow and steady stream hoping it would get him to relax and empty his mind more than he was doing. Which was probably none, especially since he usually buried everything in alcohol and he had been doing that increasingly less lately.
She sighed lightly, her hand pausing in its stroking for just a second before continuing. Yeah I know but it doesn't stop it from sucking. I'll have to spend at least two weeks without you. Who am I supposed to bug while you're gone? It wasn't as if Rosie were without friends, but she knew the majority of people only talked to her because she asserted herself. But the amount of people willing to associate with her in public had decreased since she began dating Deimos. And even the couple weeks where they weren't together didn't make things better. The teasing about her lack of wings became more blatant too. Not that she would ever tell Deimos.
Is this helping, at all? She question.

Deimos nodded in reply, keeping his eyes closed. It was taking a while, but slowly, his brain was quieting down. His thoughts stopped racing as fast, and he felt his body relaxing. "mmhmm." He hummed, nodding ever so slightly. Bug Felix; he's sad I'm leaving too, you know. He told her, I want to make sure he'll be okay too. And that he doesn't find out about our parents. I don't know how to tell him yet, but I'd really rather he didn't find out while I was gone. He untangled part of her hand from his hair to link pinky fingers, looking up at her. You'll take care of him, right?

Of course I will. Rosie said, looking at their pinkies. She hadn't spent that much time with Felix, but she was familiar with the younger boy, and they were friendly with each other whenever they did see each other. I'll keep him company and make sure he stays away from those people. She refused to called them his parents. Even if they were responsible for Deimos being alive, in her eyes they were nothing more than incubators. We'll call you often too so you can talk to him.

Good. Deimos replied, bringing his hand down and closing his eyes again. Seemingly in no time, he fell asleep.
~
Deimos blinked wearily as he woke up, turning off his alarm. It was a good thing he set it before leaving work yesterday, and left the phone in his pocket, because otherwise he would've never felt the vibration. He looked to his side, seeing Rosalind still asleep. He crawled out of bed, wearily going to get his medication. As he reached for it, he realized something, and suddenly he was awake. He never packed. He took the pain meds with some water, then without waiting for them to take effect, pulled his suitcase down from the closet and pretty much just tossed most of his clothes in the suitcase. Being gone for an indeterminate amount of time was obnoxious. For all he knew, he was severely over-packing. He left some clothes, including the one he'd been trying to keep Rosie from stealing since he let her wear it a week ago, for her.
By the time he was all dressed and packed, he sat on his suitcase, letting out a sigh. He didn't really want to go. Sure, he wanted to see his hometown again, but he didn't want to leave his bed, his girlfriend, his alcohol, his brother... not necessarily in that order. The academy had become home to him after accepting he'd never really be able to fit in with humans. He could get by, having been raised by them, but in the end he was a hybrid. To make it worse, the night after they were supposed to make it to their flat in Greece was the full moon. He was dreading dealing with that without alcohol to help dull the pain. He'd behave for a little while, but eventually he'd try to break away and get a drink or two on his day off. He'd gone through a type of scout training and testing, seeming to pass fine, though when he met the people he'd be spending the next x amount of time with, they didn't seem too happy.
One of them was a were-tiger girl who had been a year below him in school, freshly graduated and excited to be traveling the world and helping the supernatural kids that were in the world. Another one was older, Deimos thought he might have seen him as a student the first couple years he'd been here, but he couldn't be sure. He seemed rougher around the edges, and even though Deimos thought they'd butt heads a lot, clearly both stubborn, they actually started tolerating each other pretty quickly. Deimos wasn't sure, but he thought he saw someone say he was an elf. The final team member that was actually going on land with them (the boat crew was much larger, and a whole different crew all together) was a fae girl that had been in the same year as him. They'd quite possibly never even crossed paths while still taking classes, but she sure knew who he was. He had pretended to be nonchalant, sipping on a (sadly non-alcoholic) drink, while she appeared to be yelling, or at the very least complaining, to headmaster about letting a murderer on the team.
It was the day they were leaving, and their team bonding hadn't really improved. Deimos was annoyed because not one of them knew sign language, meaning he'd spend the indeterminate amount of time 1) having to read lips, 2) having to write things down to communicate, and/or 3) speak. He'd gotten too spoiled by Rosie, who let him stay silent for the ease of telepathic communication. He lifted his head up as he noticed movement, looking to the door and seeing Felix. He smiled, "Hey kid." He said softly. Felix didn't say anything back, just running to him and giving him a tight hug. He pulled back so Deimos could see his lips, "I don't want to spend the full moons alone anymore." He said, the pout as apparent as the tears brimming his eyes. I don't either, kid. Deimos though to himself, his lips a thin line. He lightly patted the side of Felix' face, glancing to Rosalind to get Felix to look over, "She'll be here for you, okay? She'll help you with anything." Felix bit his lower lip, giving his older brother a nod. Deimos nodded and ruffled his hair. "I'll miss you kid." He said, giving his brother a hug. Felix seemed satiated by that response, mentioned he had to go class now, but before leaving he told his brother in shaky sign language, Stay safe, good luck. Deimos smiled, bidding him goodbye. He must've been practicing. He thought to himself. It was starting to be better, but Deimos still had to finger spell the majority of the words when using sign language with Felix. Although he encouraged the practice, a lot of the time Deimos would just tell him to speak regularly. Still having about an hour and half before having to leave, he crawled back into bed, scooting so he could rest his head on Rosalind's stomach, setting an alarm just in case, and then closing his eyes again. He was more nervous and anxious now than he was even the night before. Did he remember Greek? His eyebrows furrowed. He went over the alphabet in his mind, yep, still remembered it. He challenged himself with some complicated words, still (mostly) remembered that. The question he couldn't answer, however, was whether or not he could still read Greek-speaking lips.

Rosalind peeked an eye open, Felix and Deimos' voices having woken her up. She didn't say anything, closing her eyes and silently listening to the exchange between Deimos and his brother, her heart breaking over the words. Still she stayed quiet, until she heard the door close again and felt Deimos lay his head on her stomach. Her eyes opened then, her hand going to his hair to rub it lightly.
I'll make sure Felix is okay. She said softly, readjusting her head on the pillows. She took a deep breath, letting it out on a sigh. Telling him about the bullying, especially right before he had to leave wasn't something she was keen on doing. So instead she said, I'll be okay too. She shifted again, closing her eyes. Have you got everything packed? You didn't forget your medicine or toothbrush or extra underwear did you?

Deimos smiled, thank you. He said, lazily nodding at her questions. He let out a chuckle, amused at her making sure he didn't forget anything. I wasn't able to pack something, but I don't think she'll fit in my suitcase. He joked lightly. He wiggled his hands underneath her a bit and acted like he was going to lift her up, even though he hadn't moved his head from her stomach, She'd also cost me an arm and a leg once we finally got to the airport. He added. He really wasn't looking forward to the trip over. Besides the full moon showing up pretty much when they got there, they had a boat ride to South America, then a flight to New York with a four hour layover, another (5 hour) layover in London, then finally a flight to Greece. All together, it was supposed to take about four days, six if you accounted for time zones. And that wasn't including the four-plus hour car ride to Ziros.
He could understand the boat. It was built in a way it resembled a tourist ship, probably for very elite travelers, so the boat wouldn't raise alarm with the researchers (when they were around). Now that it was winter, the majority of flights were grounded, so flying out was out of the question. He'd heard of scouts simply going to the airports dressed as tourists and so simply flying out, but apparently that wasn't an option at the moment. Something about it being a danger to get ice in airplane engines. He'd always wondered what it'd be like to be in a plane crash. Probably not friendly on the stomach.

Rosie made a noise, though a small smile crossed her lips. I'm sure I can use my manipulation to get them to let you through without having to pay. She hummed, her fingers still moving through his hair. You can put me in a giant box and ship me out there. Pretty sure I can survive if you poke little boles and give me some bars of food and bottled water.
Rosalind moved, slowly wiggling so Deimos' head was no longer on her stomach. She moved to straddle him, her hands resting on his chest, a pout on her lips. I hope it doesn't take you guys long to find the kid and convince him to come here. Although I guess if he doesn't wanna come you can knock him over the head and bring him here by force. She joked lightly, leaning down to rub her nose against his.
I'll hear from you every day, right? Cell phones will still work from Greece even if my telepathy doesn't, won't it?

Deimos chuckled, And then you'll be expelled for real. He told her. He let her crawl over him, his hands going to her thighs, though one did move to his mouth in an attempt to cover up an amused laugh at her comment about the kid. I'm sure the population's grown, but Ziros is small enough that if this kid is causing trouble, which it sounds like they are, we'll have to take him. He told her. By the time they found me, I was well on my way to jail, honestly, because eventually I'd be bound to be tried for fighting or attacking someone. They set up their offer for me to come to school like it was an option, but I get the feeling if I had refused, they would've taken me anyway. Even though we're still outcasts here, the academy is a good place for hybrids. He admitted. He shrugged, his face still displaying his amusement. So who knows, maybe we will have to hit him over the head.
He nodded, giving her a look, I know history likes to make Greece sound like it doesn't even exist anymore, but yes. Cell phones, and if we have it wifi, will work fine. I mean, the distance may cause it to cut out more than a typical phone call, but we will be able to get in touch. He kept her head close to him, giving her a kiss. Don't waste your energy too much if you can help it, okay?

A small town meant it was more likely they'd find the kid quickly, which Rosalind hoped would be the case. She knew it was going to take them basically a week getting there, and another week coming home. Not to mention how long it'd take to actually find the kid and bring him back here. It looked as if he would be gone at least a month.
Rosalind quirked her head, raising an eyebrow at him. Demi, you're deaf. She said, giggling a bit. We wouldn't be able to talk on the phone, you wouldn't hear me. I'd have to use my telepathy anyway. We can text though. She kissed him back, sighing a bit. I'll try not to but you know me. Besides, I haven't been practicing all week for nothing. It'll be a lot easier for me to talk to you than it would have a few weeks ago.

Deimos nodded, Yeah, yeah, I know. But it's never been heard, in history, of a fairy being able to communicate with someone over a continent away. Just know that you can't always depend on it. I'd like to use it as much as possible too, but some days we may be just... too tired, or too busy, to use the telepathic link.
He blinked a couple times in confusion before realizing he'd never shown her what TTY was, and being hearing and coming from a hearing family, she didn't have the necessity to learn about it. He dug his phone out of his pocket. "I've had people call me all the time, try it." He told her simply. "I'll show you."
