Laelia sat at the very back of the room, in a corner, her knees drawn to her chest and her arms wrapped around her raised legs. She curled into as small a ball as possible, trying to make herself invisible, without realizing she actually could. She was terrified, and more lonely than she'd ever been in her life.
It'd only been a few weeks since she'd arrived at the academy, and while she'd gotten an initial tour of the place she still felt lost. And so alone. Everyone here already seemed to have a friend or a group of friends they hung out with, and nobody had bothered to approach her and speak to her.
When she was alive Laelia wasn't the most outgoing person, but she wasn't shy by any means. She never had any trouble striking up a conversation. But that had been with humans. She knew humans. Supernaturals were nothing but a fairy tale before she'd died. And now she was at an entire school with vampires and werewolves and fairies. And she was a ghost.
Laelia had a huge case of culture shock, and she didn't know how to deal with it.

Jungshin sighed, the library was still crowded, the rec room and sports rooms were also pretty crowded. It seemed like every student had decided to not stay in their dorms, yet the dorms were crowded too. He knew the school was big, and they had a population from all around the world, but he didn't think there were that many supernatural kids in the world. When he had peeked into the werewolf room, the ones that were in there were play fighting, in their animal forms, or just generally frolicking, and since Jungshin could no longer transform he would've been very very bored.
Usually on days like this, he'd just go outside, but there had been a blizzard for the last week, and though the cold wouldn't affect him, he was a bit worried he'd get lost or stumble upon researchers. So, he was stuck inside. He peeked into the ghost room, it was busy, but not nearly as busy as anywhere else; probably because most of the ghosts here were hybrids and preferred to hang out in their ~other~ species room if anywhere. "Ugh, finally." He muttered to himself, shutting the door behind him. A couple people looked at him, one even rolled his eyes because "why did you bother opening the door?" Jungshin bit his lip, walking past them quickly and going toward a corner by the bookshelves.
It was then he noticed someone was in his usual hiding spot. Not that it was a good hiding spot, since it openly looked out on the entire room, but people tended to leave him alone there. It took him a moment before he recognized her. She was a new ghost. A human that had become a ghost. He didn't know her story, but most ghosts didn't immediately disclose how they died anyway. He made sure she saw him walking towards her before sliding down the wall near her. "It's really a lot to take in, huh?" He asked her, mimicking her posture, though more relaxed. "One minute, you don't believe in fairy tales, the next, you are part of them."

Laelia jumped, not expecting anybody to talk to her. They'd been ignoring up up until now so she kind of just expected it. So naturally it startled her when someone spoke to her, honestly she hadn't even noticed him sit down next to her. She looked over at him, nodding lightly before returning her gaze to her lap.
"Y-yeah. It's kinda overwhelming." She responded in a quiet voice. She looked out at all the ghosts in the room, wondering how each of them died, if they were all as sudden and unexpected as hers was. "H-have you been a ghost very long?" She asked the boy sitting next to her, playing with a stray strand of hair.

Jungshin made an apologetic face, "I didn't mean to scare you..." He muttered.
He shook his head, smiling bittersweetly. "Two years, which really isn't that long in the grand scheme of things." He hesitated a moment. "And then I became a werewolf about a month before that." He sighed, rubbing his arm where he had been bitten, the wound had healed surprisingly well, considering he was caring for it himself to hide it from his parents. "I had really hoped, I'd just been attacked by a wolf. But, that wasn't the case." He shrugged staying in that position and stretching for a bit. "Where are you from?" He asked her curiously.

Laelia sucked in a breath, looking back down at her knees. "Wow. Becoming a ghost is hard enough to adjust too. I can't imagine getting bit by a werewolf and then becoming a ghost." She seemed to realize how insensitive that sounded immediately after and muttered a quick, "sorry."
She fell quiet for a moment, picking at her nail. "I don't understand how to...be a ghost. I've only been a ghost for a few months. And then I came here. I haven't really had time to adjust to this body...or lack of a body yet. It's weird knowing I don't need sleep or to eat or pee. And it's hard remembering that."

Jungshin was a bit more amused than insulted by her comment, and he shook his head, muttering, "It's okay." He paused for a bit, trying to think of how to phrase what he wanted to say. "Being a ghost... takes practice." He began, a breathy laugh escaping at the end. "It's something you apparently get used to used to over time. I asked our teacher one time when I first came, she was saying that almost all ghosts she's ever met admit to having a few years where they continue with human needs. But eventually, you just kind of... start forgetting to do it for longer and longer periods of time, until... you just don't anymore." He explained. "I could teach you, kinda. Maybe." He said, trying to remember what he was taught in order to use his powers.

"Would you?" Laelia smiled at him, her hands going back to playing with her hair. It made sense she supposed, having to practice at being a ghost. You couldn't exactly unlearn being a human in such a short amount of time. And while she had to remember that breathing was a necessity and that she wouldn't starve if she didn't eat for several days, she also had to learn ghostly things like going invisible and phasing through things. Having someone willing to help her was nice. "Kinda maybe?" She questioned, giggling a bit.

Jungshin chuckled, giving her an affirming nod, "Kinda maybe. I'm..." He held out the word, feeling a bit embarrassed to admit it, "I'm still learning some things myself." He shrugged, "But I can teach you what I do know. Like this," He said, becoming invisible for only a moment. "Facade kinda comes naturally after a couple days, if not hours..." He thought aloud, then looked to her again, "Can you hold or carry things yet?"

"I've been a ghost for months though." Laelia murmured, looking at her hands. "I've only done that a couple times, and even then I had to concentrate really hard." At his question she frowned, looking at him. "Sometimes. But again, I have to concentrate really hard in order to do so. Usually I can only hold it for a couple seconds before it passes through me again."

Jungshin was about to tell her how to focus better at holding things, since he was best at doing that one consistently, when her first comment finally registered with him. He looked her over, he had been sure she was using facade already. He figured maybe the worse the death, the faster they learned it? He really wasn't sure about that, but seeing as he wanted to say goodbye to his sister before leaving the house, maybe it was because it was emotional. He had been desperate to look as normal as possible, not show his body was covered in burns, skin red and even black in some places, so as to not scare her as much. He had still scared her, considering her dead brother was suddenly in her room, but learning facade so quickly helped lessened her fright. "You... don't know how to do facade?" He asked her, surprised.

Laelia shook her head, eyes wide. Was that a bad thing, not knowing how to facade? She didn't know what was normal and not normal when it came to being a ghost. What exactly ghosts could do, and what they no longer needed to do since they were dead. She supposed there were books about it, but trying to find the library in this maze of a school and making it back to her room wasn't something she was ready to attempt. "I...don't really know what that means." She admitted, picking at her shirt again.

Jungshin was surprised she didn't know what it meant. That really must mean she'd been here for who-knows-how-long, looking as she did when she died. However she was killed, it either was something internal, or she at least figured out she could change clothes. He ran a hand through his hair before ruffling it, letting a sigh out of puffed cheeks. "Facade is a way to hide the scars you made while, or from, dying." He explained. He was hesitant, he'd only showed one other person (not counting his sister) how he looked with his facade down, and again he felt a pounding in his chest that really made him question what function his heart had exactly while being dead and not beating. "I'll show you what I mean, but you can't get scared or cry out." He told her. He was wearing short sleeves and shorts today, so his wounds would be quickly obvious once he dropped it, and he really didn't want any attention brought to him, because he didn't know what he'd hate more, the attention from his extensive wounds or the pity he'd inevitably get afterwards. He still hesitated before dropping it, simultaneously watching for her reaction, so he could put it back quickly if necessary, and not able to look her in the eyes.

"O-oh." Laelia looked down at her shirt, pulling at it slightly, her mind going to the bullet wound in her stomach. She'd figured out pretty early on that ghosts could change clothes, since that'd been one of the first things she'd done after dying, wishing she wouldn't have to spend an eternity in her waitress-ing clothes.
She sucked in a sharp breath when he dropped his facade, dropping her eyes almost immediately. Plenty of questions burned through her mind at once, but she quelled them, instead breathing out "woah." She glanced back at him once the facade was back in place, chewing on her bottom lip. "I-I don't know to do that. My wound isn't..." Laelia trailed off, lifting her shirt some so he could see the bullet wound in her stomach, and then pushing her collar down and a sleeve down to see the strangle marks and bruises on her neck and wrists. "I just wear shirts that hide everything. I didn't know putting up a facade was possible."

Jungshin put his facade back up, his eyes going to her stomach as she raised her shirt. Ah, so it was a bullet wound. He bit his lip, "Because I wanted to say goodbye to my sister before leaving home, and I didn't want to scare her, I learned it really quickly." He told her honestly, "I... I don't know for sure, but I think maybe the harder your death is to hide, the faster you learn it. Because, you know," even though his facade was back up, he extended his arm and ran his hand along it, "you don't want to have to look at it forever. Don't need the reminder..." His voice faded as he looked down, putting his hands in his lap. "For a while, it might be something you'll have to really think about, like holding things, but facade is probably the easiest and quickest thing to learn." He told her, finally looking up at her and giving her a smile. "I just know I was thinking, over and over, I want to look like I did. And I really wanted it, I want to look... normal." He explained. He hesitated, "I don't know if that was just me or if it can apply to anyone, but maybe try it?"

"I guess that makes sense." Laelia said, even though she really didn't understand any of this at all. She sighed, being a ghost was a lot harder than everyone made it seem. Even if she'd known nothing about the supernatural world, the ghosts humans liked to talk about never had attributes like this. Well, she supposed they could go invisible but in movies and such they never mentioned them being able to hide their deaths. Granted they didn't quite look like humans or actually people either, mostly floating blobs.
"So just...just think about how I want to look?" She closed her eyes imagining herself without the bullet wound, and without the bruises on her neck and wrists. Because even though others couldn't see with the clothes she chose to wear, seeing the marks herself wasn't something she wanted to deal with. After a moment she opened her eyes, pushing her sleeve up and gasping, nearly shoving her wrist into Jungshin's face. "It worked! It actually worked!"
