Jungshin wiggled his leg as he waited. You can't leave it alone. He wanted to call out to the penguins. In retrospect, the little egg was lucky. An elephant seal had decided it's dad looked like an easy, tasty meal (it wasn't pretty to watch), but none of the other penguins seemed to notice the egg that was still surviving. He looked around, he had nothing to keep it warm. Not even he was warm. I should start wearing layers. He thought himself, pulling off his shirt and wrapping it around the egg. He waited a bit longer to see if any other penguins would pick it up, now he knew it'd at least stay warm for a bit longer, but there was no response from the other ones. He pouted and huffed, scooping up his shirt with the egg still in it, running back to the school. Once he got back into the lobby, he put his shirt back on and just held the egg cautiously. He didn't want to risk dropping it, but he didn't know where he could put it. At least it was warm in the lobby. He went into a corner, where a vent was and therefore could only assume was pushing out hot air. He pulled out his phone, texting the first person that came to mind.
Um, yeah if you're not busy it'd be really cool if you could come to the lobby very quickly. He texted to Saoirse. She was the only student that truly knew about his love for penguins, or really anything about him, but also he wanted to see her again. Since classes had started up again, they both got pretty busy. Even though they kept in touch on messaging and social media, it wasn't the same. And even if this school felt like the size of a small city, he usually would manage to at least see her from across the hall, or on her way somewhere. He wanted to see her face-to-face.

Saoirse rolled onto her back, a math book draped across her face. She had her arm across her stomach, eyes closed. Studying was becoming a pain in her butt and she welcomed any type of distraction. But the only friend she'd made so far was Jungshin, and they rarely saw each other once classes started back up. "God this is so boring!" She groaned.
She'd started to doze off when her phone buzzed in her pocket, startling her and causing her to jump. Saoirse sat up quickly, the book falling into her lap. She checked her phone, looking to see she'd gotten a text from Jungshin asking her to come to the lobby. "Quickly?"
Still she rolled out of bed, sticking the phone in her pocket and slipping on her shoes. It didn't take her long to make it to where he'd asked her to come. "Hey, what did you..." Saoirse trailed off when she finally reached Jungshin and saw the egg sitting near a vent. "Jungshin. What is that?"

Jungshin saw her coming, making sure the egg was safe in it's corner as she came up to him. "That was fast," He said innocently, teetering back and forth on his feet. He turned to look at the egg when she asked about it. "It's a penguin egg." He said, like it was common knowledge. Realizing she might think he stole it from a now-angry penguin, he waved his hands in front of him, "His dad got eaten by a seal! I don't even know where it's mother was! I waited! I swear." He said, then, more calmly, "I didn't want to wait too long and let it die, but none of the other penguins seemed to care." He looked down, arms outstretched displaying himself, "I don't have heat, I'm a ghost." He said sadly. "Please, help me keep it alive. Maybe once it's hatched we can try to bring it back to the Huddle."

"I wasn't doing anything but pretending to study." Saoirse walked slowly towards Jungshin, arms crossed and an increasingly confused look growing on her face the more he talked. "The dad...was eaten? You watched him get eaten?" She probably would have been amused if she weren't so concerned that he brought an egg into the school. With students who'd probably rather eat it. "Jungshin..." She started at his request. "Wha--how am I supposed to help keep it warm? You want me to sit on it or something? Are you even supposed to have this in here?" Saoirse knew he loved penguins but she never thought he would go and do something like this. Or ask for her help.

"I watched enough to know it's dad is now in the belly of a mean seal." Jungshin said flatly. He teetered back and forth again, pumping his fists, "No not sit on it. Just..." He motioned to her body, quickly gesturing up and down to all of her. "You have body warmth. You have a need for winter clothes to go outside. You have warm things." He put both hands on his chest, gesturing to himself, "I have nothing. A few shirts, sure, but not something good for a baby penguin." Without pausing, he added, "And who cares if it's not allowed in the school. How much harm can an egg do, honestly?" He scoffed. "I'll talk with the headmaster later if it'll convince you to help me." He promised her.

Saoirse ran her hands through her hair, sighing at him. He was so adamant about taking care of this egg, it was honestly a bit cute. He was going to be the end of her, for sure. "Alright, alright I'll help you." She finally said, dropping her arms and reaching out to ruffle his hair. "But only because I like you." She sighed again, looking down at the egg. What was she getting herself into?
"First things first, we can't leave it here. And we can't bring it up to either of our rooms without someone questioning us. Do you want to take it to the closet?" She walked toward the egg, glade she'd worn a sweater today, and picked it up gently, cradling it in her arms and close to her chest. "I can't believe you actually brought an egg in here, Jungshin."

Jungshin smiled as she finally agreed, following behind her with a bounce in his step. His smile widened as she wrapped the egg with her sweater. "Ah! Yeah, we can leave it in the closet!" He suggested. "It's a safe place, no one frequents there besides us, and it usually stays pretty warm in there."
He pouted at her light scolding, his face turning up into a slight snarl, "What was I supposed to do, let it die?" He asked her, a pout evident even in his voice.

Saoirse let out a long sigh as they trudged to the closet, opening it while cradling the egg carefully. She walked in, setting the egg down on the cushions before straightening and turning to Jungshin, reaching out to cup his cheeks in her hand and shaking his head lightly. "Jungshin you are too pure for your own good, you know that right?" She bumped his forehead with hers, smiling at him. "That's what good about you though. I like it."

Jungshin stared at her, confused by her comment. Pure? Him? He was a rebel. He had set fire to things (a trashcan, it fizzled out quickly), stolen things (a soda from a 7/11), stopped studying, wasn't intending to go to college, hell, maybe he'd have tried to dodge his military service. He wasn't pure. He was a burnout, worked too hard in school that he gave up too soon. He was fast on his way to being released by the school he had just gotten into because his grades dropped faster than someone could take a breath. His face clearly displayed his confusion. The only difference between him then and him now was that he was still in school, and was kind of trying. "I'm tough." He pouted. He looked to her, looked to the ground trying to process what he heard, then looked at her again. "You... like it?" He asked hesitantly.

"You can't claim to be tough and give me a pout at the same time." Saoirse said with an amused smile on her lips. Maybe he'd been tough when he was a human, she hadn't asked him how he'd gotten bitten by a werewolf though she figured he'd tell her when he was ready, but as a ghost Jungshin was about as non-tough as they came. Someone who worried about a penguin egg not getting enough warmth to hatch could not call themselves tough. At his next question she had to stop herself from rolling her eyes. "Yes. I like the way you are just fine. It's okay to not be tough you know." She moved just a bit closer, standing on her tip toes just enough to be able to reach his mouth with hers. "I like you, Jungshin." She said softly before kissing him.

Jungshin pouted a bit longer before giving up with a "hmph." Clearly, getting a reputation as probably the clumsiest ghost in history ruined his chance of keeping up his tough appearances. At least before he tried conversing with people, he had a reputation for, well still being clumsy, sure, but also for being mysterious. He was the guy that sat on top of the bookshelf and read all the time, keeping to himself, never talking to anyone. He was broken away from his thoughts when Saoirse kissed him. He tensed in pleasant surprise for a moment before returning the kiss, his hands tangling in the hair at the back of her neck as he deepened the kiss.

Saoirse smiled into the kiss when Jungshin reciprocated it, happy that she hadn't jumped the gun and kissed someone who didn't return her feelings. Her arms lid around his neck and she pressed closer to him. Now that she thought about it, though, he hadn't responded to what she'd said. And as much as Saoirse enjoyed the kiss - and it was a lot - she probably should have waited to hear a response before kissing him. She pulled away slightly, mostly to catch her breath but also to ask, "Does this mean you like me too?" She smiled up at him, her cheeks slightly flushed.

Jungshin was just getting into it when she pulled back, and he had to bite his lip to stop from pouting. "Ah," He said, his mouth staying open a moment longer than the word. "Yeah." He affirmed with a nod. He wanted to go back to kissing. He liked that. It had been a while since he'd done that. Just about three years now, in fact. He was bitter towards the last person he kissed though. She essentially caused his death. "I really like you." He added as an afterthought.

Saoirse grinned at him, pulling his head down to kiss him again. She'd never had a crush on someone before, never had anyone around long enough to like her either. Before living with her adopted parents she'd wandered on her own for months. And even when she had a stable home she had never spent time with others. It wasn't until she came to the academy that she'd realized she hadn't much social interaction with others her age, and by then she didn't think her personality was one that would allow her friends. So Jungshin returning her affections, despite how outspoken and brash she saw herself being at times.
"I'm glad." She breathed once she broke from the kiss a second time.

Jungshin smiled, "I'm glad too." He replied, and this time it was him initiating the kiss.
Maybe there was something in him that just made him attracted to were-creatures. At least he knew about Saoirse, and it also kind of... didn't matter. Since he was already a werewolf and also a bit dead. But the last girl he'd been with, he think she called herself his girlfriend but he didn't see her that way, she betrayed him. Invited him out for fun on a full moon and bit him instead. He did not consider that fun.
He needed to stop thinking of his ex(?). Now he had someone here, a girl that was also a friend that would help him smuggle a penguin egg into school with very little questioning. And she liked him. He hadn't felt this happy in a long time.
